The town of Itsukaichi was created on April 1, 1889 with the establishment of municipalities law.

The city of Akiruno was created on September 1, 1995 by the merger of the city of Akigawa with the neighboring town of Itsukaichi.

On the occasion of extension, the course of Hachiko Line and national highway Route 16 was changed, and Itsukaichi highway was divided.

The Itsukaichi Line was also connected to the station from July 13, 1930, to October 11, 1944, via a separate track between Tachikawa and Haijima, which was closed following the integration of the operation of the Ōme and Itsukaichi lines under the Japanese Government Railways in April 1944.
