Jacopo Buonaparte was a friend and advisor to Medici Pope Clement VII.

Jacopo Amigoni ( 1682 – 1752 ), also named Giacomo Amiconi, was an Italian painter of the late-Baroque or Rococo period, who began his career in Venice, but traveled and was prolific throughout Europe, where his sumptuous portraits were much in demand.

However, upon completion, the work was rejected by the cardinal, and subsequently entered the collection of the banker Jacopo Galli, for his garden.

Dafne by Jacopo Peri was the earliest composition considered opera, as understood today.

* Jacopo Bonfadio ( 1508 – 1550 ) was beheaded for sodomy and then his corpse was burned at the stake for heresy.

The repression was ruthless: 12 participants were executed, while Mazzini's best friend and director of the Genoese section of the Giovine Italia, Jacopo Ruffini, killed himself.

The proxy wedding ceremony in Florence was celebrated with lavish entertainments, including examples of the newly-invented musical genre of opera, Jacopo Peri's Euridice.

These subjects were produced early in his career, when they show Italian influences including that of Jacopo de ' Barberi, who was at the court of Saxony for a period up to 1505.

The state of mind produced by that shock is reflected in his novel Ultime lettere di Jacopo Ortis ( The Last Letters of Jacopo Ortis ) ( 1798 ), which was described by the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica as a more politicized version of Goethe's The Sorrows of Young Werther, " for the hero of Foscolo embodies the mental sufferings and suicide of an undeceived Italian patriot just as the hero of Goethe places before us the too delicate sensitiveness embittering and at last cutting short the life of a private German scholar.

Jacopo Ortis had been a real person ; he was a young student of Padua, and committed suicide there under circumstances akin to those described by Foscolo.

Sent to Florence at the age of sixteen by Cardinal Silvio Passerini, he joined the circle of Andrea del Sarto and his pupils Rosso Fiorentino and Jacopo Pontormo where his humanist education was encouraged.

In 1122, in fact, Callistus II promulgated the basic Bull of the Concordat of Worms ; in 1159, Pope Adrian IV received in Anagni, during the siege of Crema, the legates of Milan, Brescia, and Piacenza ( the building of the Civic Palace was assigned to the Ambassador of Brescia, Architect Jacopo da Iseo ).

Jacopo Peri ( 20 August 1561 – 12 August 1633 ) was an Italian composer and singer of the transitional period between the Renaissance and Baroque styles, and is often called the inventor of opera.

Jacopo Sannazaro ( 28 July 1458 – 6 August 1530 ) was an Italian poet, humanist and epigrammist from Naples.

His father died ca 1462, during the boyhood of Jacopo, who was brought up at Nocera Inferiore and at San Cipriano Piacentino, whose rural atmosphere colored his poetry.

Soon other commissions came, such as the Ridolfi Chapel in the church of San Jacopo sopr ' Arno, now lost, and the Barbadori Chapel in Santa Trinita, also modified since its building.

The room also contains four paintings by Jacopo Palma il Giovane, which are linked with specific events of the Venetian history.

A student of Andrea Pisano as well as Giotto di Bondone, his younger brothers Jacopo di Cione and Nardo di Cione were also artists.

Antonio del Pollaiolo ( January 17, 1429 / 1433 – February 4, 1498 ), also known as Antonio di Jacopo Pollaiuolo or Antonio Pollaiolo, was an Italian painter, sculptor, engraver and goldsmith during the Renaissance.

In 1482, Lorenzo il Magnifico arranged for the marriage between the young Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco and Semiramide Appiano, daughter of the Appiani lord Jacopo III of Piombino, who brought not only lucrative commercial ties but also political connections ( the Appiani were related by marriage to the Aragonese of Naples ).

He held a number of organist posts in the city, and also taught pupils, among them Jacopo Peri, who is often regarded as the inventor of opera.

In his youth, Tintoretto was also known as Jacopo Robusti as his father had defended the gates of Padua in a rather robust way against the imperial troops during the War of the League of Cambrai ( 1509 – 1516 ).

The spread of the story of the fourth century discovery of the True Cross was partly due to its inclusion in 1260 in Jacopo de Voragine's very popular book The Golden Legend, which also included other tales such as Saint George and the Dragon.

X is also used for native words derived from Latin and Greek ; J is also used for just a few native words, mainly names of persons ( as in Jacopo ) or of places ( as in Jesolo and Jesi ), in which is always pronounced as letter I.

It also has fine Late Gothic and Early Italian Renaissance paintings by ; Jacopo del Casentino ( The Presentation of Christ in the Temple ), Giovanni di Paolo and Workshop, Bernardo Daddi and Workshop, Lorenzo Monaco, Gherardo Starnina ( The Adoration of the Magi ), and Lorenzo di Credi.

However the 1600 celebrations also included a portent of things to come in the form of performances of Jacopo Peri's opera Euridice, the earliest surviving example of the form.

His brothers Pietro and Jacopo were also painters.

Antonio also carried out the lofty and well-designed church of San Giovanni dei Fiorentini, which had been begun by Jacopo Sansovino.

Joseph Solomon Qandia Delmedigo ( also Del Medigo, ישר מקנדיא, Yashar Mi-Qandia or in Italian Jacopo de Candia ) ( 16 June 1591 – 16 October 1655 ) was a rabbi, author, physician, mathematician, and music theorist.

His rivalry with both Emilio de ' Cavalieri and Jacopo Peri seems to have been intense: he may have been the one who arranged for Cavalieri to be removed from his post as director of festivities for the wedding of Henry IV of France and Maria de ' Medici in 1600 ( an event which caused Cavalieri to leave Florence in fury ), and he also seems to have rushed his own opera Euridice into print before Peri's opera on the same subject could be published, while simultaneously ordering his group of singers to have nothing to do with Peri's production.

In 1574 he published his first music, four villanellas which were included in collections of " Villanelle alla Napolitana ", edited by Giovanni Jacopo de Antiquis, who may also have been one of his teachers.

It also highlights the picture gallery of the alcázar, with works by Tintoretto, Veronese, Ribera, Bosch, Sánchez Coello, Van Dyck, El Greco, Annibale Carracci, Leonardo da Vinci, Guido Reni, Raphael, Jacopo Bassano and Correggio, many which were lost in the disaster of 1734.

He also had various artists, including Jacopo Ligozzi, Giovanni Neri, and Cornelio Schwindt, make illustrations of specimens.

Among profane buildings his strong restrained style, with its suggestion from Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola, is best exemplified in the Lateran Palace ( begun in 1586 ), in which the vigorous application of sound structural principles and a power of co-ordination are undeniable, but also the utter lack of imagination and barren monotony of style.

Jacopo Bassano ( 1510 – 14 February 1592 ), known also as Jacopo dal Ponte, was an Italian painter who was born and died in Bassano del Grappa near Venice, from which he adopted the name.

Euridice ( also Erudice or Eurydice ) is an opera by Jacopo Peri, with additional music by Giulio Caccini.

Don Sgabarizza was concerned with such talk of witchcraft, and on 21 March 1575, he appeared as a witness before both the vicar general, Monsignor Jacopo Maracco, and the Inquisitor Fra Giulio d ' Assis, a member of the Order of the Minor Conventuals, at the monastery of San Francesco di Cividale in Friuli, in the hope that they could offer him guidance in how to proceed in this situation.
