* 1940 – Jim Bakker, American televangelist

James Orsen " Jim " Bakker ( pronounced " Baker "; born January 2, 1940 ) is an American televangelist, a former Assemblies of God minister, convicted felon, and a former host ( with his then-wife Tammy Faye Bakker ) of The PTL Club, a popular evangelical Christian television program.

PTL's fund raising activities between 1984 – 1987 underwent scrutiny by The Charlotte Observer newspaper, eventually leading to criminal charges against Jim Bakker.

Jim and Tammy Bakker were divorced on March 13, 1992.

Notices stating the IRS liens list still identify " James O. and Tamara F. Bakker " as owing $ 6, 000, 000, liens on which Jim Bakker still pays.

In January 2003, Bakker began broadcasting the daily Jim Bakker Show at Studio City Cafe in Branson, Missouri, with his second wife, Lori.

His strong awareness for the importance of names in the creation of a public image showed itself again during his presidential run when he threatened to sue NBC news for calling him a " television evangelist ", which later became " televangelist ", at a time when Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Bakker were objects of scandal.

By this time the preachers had also drifted to cable outlets such as Jim Bakker ’ s PTL and Pat Robertson ’ s CBN cable television networks.

Tammy Faye worked in a boutique for a time while Jim found work in a restaurant inside a department store in Minneapolis.

Jim and Tammy Bakker had been involved with television from the time of their departure from Minneapolis until they moved to the Charlotte area via Portsmouth, Virginia, where they were founding members of the 700 Club.

While in Portsmouth, they were hosts of the popular children's show " Jim and Tammy ".

Jim and Tammy founded the PTL Club ( Praise The Lord ) in the mid 1970s.

According to Messner's testimony, Tammy wrote the offer on her stationery, listing a $ 300, 000-a-year lifetime salary for Jim, $ 100, 000 a year for Tammy, a house, and a year's worth of free phone calls and health insurance.

In 1996 she wrote her autobiography, Tammy: Telling It My Way ( ISBN 0679445153 ), and she co-hosted a TV talk show titled The Jim J. and Tammy Faye Show with Jim J. Bullock.

The album also contains nods to Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, Tatum O ' Neal, and Lita Ford.

The Trinity Broadcasting Network was co-founded by Paul Crouch, Jan Crouch, Jim Bakker and Tammy Faye Bakker in 1973 as Trinity Broadcasting Systems ; the Bakkers would leave by 1975 to start their own ministry, The PTL Club.

Having divorced his first wife, he married televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker in 1993 after her divorce from husband and PTL Club founder Jim Bakker.

Heritage USA was a Christian theme park, water park, and residential complex built in Fort Mill, South Carolina, USA, by PTL Club ( short for " Praise The Lord ") founders televangelist Jim Bakker and Tammy Faye Bakker Messner.

Much of the park, the area of which once comprised, was built by noted church builder Roe Messner, who later married Tammy Faye Bakker after Tammy's divorce from Jim Bakker.

The corporate offices of Laura Ashley are located in the former PTL World Outreach Center, the pyramid-shaped building which formerly housed Jim & Tammy Faye Bakker's offices as well as those of the leaders of PTL.

A classic moment was in March 1987 when she interviewed Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker ( played by Phil Hartman and Jan Hooks ) at the height of the sex scandal involving Jim Bakker and Jessica Hahn.

Denise Roche, Faye Storer, Jo Holmes, Don McKenzie and Jim Hannan were elected to the new Local Board.

The show was created by Colin Sprigg, Director of IT and Greg Porter, Television Production teacher at Tetzlaff Middle School, with Faye Ross Middle School schoolteacher Jim Keating hosting and Carmenita Middle School teacher Alan Hallback co-hosting.

The Jim J. and Tammy Faye Show debuted in 1996, but Messner exited the program a few months later following a cancer diagnosis.

It featured Jim Walters ( Sebastian Mahjouri ), accompanied by his cousin Brian Barford ( Jack Allen ) and next door neighbour Carrie Howard ( Faye Jackson ).
