In contrast, Jing Ke was a chivalrous warrior who said that " tens of thousands of injured people are all my comrades.

* The Emperor's Shadow ( 1996 )-The film focuses on Qin Shi Huang's relationship with the musician Gao Jianli, a friend of the assassin Jing Ke.

Gao played the Song of Yishui for Jing Ke before the latter embarked on his assassination mission.

Both the king and the assassin may be references to Qin Shi Huang and Jing Ke respectively.

* Jing Ke ( died 227 BCE ), the failed assassin of Qin Shi Huang, once had an argument with Lu Goujian ( 魯句踐 ) over a game of Liubo, and had to flee for his life.

# 70 volumes of Liezhuan ( 列傳 ) or " Biographies and Collective Biographies ", contain biographies of important individual figures including Laozi, Mozi, Sun Tzu, and Jing Ke.

For instance, the material on Jing Ke's attempt at assassinating the first emperor of China was allegedly an eye-witness story passed on by the great-grandfather of his father's friend, who served as a low-ranking bureaucrat at court of Qin and happened to be attending the diplomatic ceremony for Jing Ke.

Jing Ke (?

Jing Ke was originally from the State of Wey ( 衞 ).

His homeland of Wei was absorbed by Qin, and Jing Ke fled to Yan.

There Jing Ke accepted Prince Dan's hospitality, who as a last resort decided to send an assassin against the King of Qin.

Jing Ke agreed to go to Qin state and pretend to be a nobleman begging for mercy.

Jing Ke went to Fan himself to discuss the assassination plan.

In 221, Liu Bei proclaimed himself Emperor of Shu Han, and declared war on Eastern Wu to avenge the death of Guan Yu and the loss of Jing Province.

Emperor Jing had Zhou Yafu arrested and interrogated, and the interrogator, when told by Zhou that the armor and weapons were for burial purposes, accused him of " underground treason " -- i. e., ready to commit treason against the spirits of the emperors after he himself dies.
