In 1840 he was elected to the Swedish Academy in succession to the poet Johan Olof Wallin ( 1779 – 1839 ).

* The King's Crown: made in Stockholm in 1818 by goldsmith Olof Wihlborg, the crown is a corona clausa ( closed model ) of gold consisting of a circlet bearing eight large stones, primarily amethysts and chrysoprases surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves with three pearls set as acorns between each of these stones, the largest of these being a large oval green tourmaline, a gift of the Brazilian consul in Stockholm to King Charles III Johan in the front.

One of them is found in Olof Verelius ' work, in the annotations of the Hervarar saga ok Heiðreks, and the other one in Johan Hadorph's work ( 1690 ).

In St. Petersburg on 18 September 1783, after a lunch with his family, during a conversation with a fellow academician Anders Johan Lexell about the newly discovered Uranus and its orbit, Euler suffered a brain hemorrhage and died a few hours later.

Also, in Hamburg Lord Edward met with Johan Anders Jägerhorn ( or baron de Spurila, as he called himself ), a Finnish Swede who had advocated Finnish autonomy and now acted as an intermediary between Lord Edward and the French.
