Within the sects of the Latter Day Saint movement, the Articles of Faith are a list composed by Joseph Smith, Jr. as part of an 1842 letter sent to " Long " John Wentworth, editor of the Chicago Democrat.

The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are three separate and distinct entities, with the Father and the Son possessing physical bodies of flesh and bone but the Holy Ghost existing only as a spirit, enabling it to dwell within us.

Eventually these were restored to the prophet Joseph Smith and various others in a series of divine conferrals and ordinations by angelic men who had held this authority during their lifetimes ( see this partial list of restoration events ).

As it relates to apostolic succession, the apostles Peter, James, and John allegedly appeared to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdry sometime in 1829 and conferred upon them the Melchizedek Priesthood and with it " the keys of the kingdom, and of the dispensation of the fulness of times ".

The history of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is typically divided into three broad time periods: ( 1 ) the early history during the lifetime of Joseph Smith, Jr. which is in common with all Latter Day Saint movement churches, ( 2 ) a " pioneer era " under the leadership of Brigham Young and his 19th century successors, and ( 3 ) a modern era beginning around the turn of the 20th century as Utah achieved statehood.

Church members believe that Joseph Smith was called to be a modern-day prophet through, among other events, a First Vision | visitation from God the Father and Jesus | Jesus Christ.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints traces its current dispensation beginnings to Joseph Smith, Jr. on April 6, 1830 in Western New York.

On June 27, 1844, Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were murdered by a mob in Carthage, Illinois, while being held on charges of treason.

To prevent war, Joseph Smith had predicted that the church would go to the West and be established in the tops of Rocky Mountains.

From the outset, this new republic held that film would be the most ideal propaganda tool for the Soviet Union because of its widespread popularity among the established citizenry of the new land ; Vladimir Lenin, in fact, declared it the most important medium for educating the masses in the ways, means and successes of Communism, a position which was later echoed by Joseph Stalin.

Socinian theology continued in Transylvania, where Polish exiles such as Andrzej Wiszowaty Jr. taught in the Unitarian College ( 1726 – 1740 ), as evidenced in the Summa Universae Theologiae Christianae secundum Unitarios of Mihály Lombard de Szentábrahám recognized as the statement of faith of the Unitarian Church of Transylvania by Emperor Joseph II in 1782.

The group's name is derived from communist politics ; " Country Joe " was a popular name for Joseph Stalin in the 1940s, while " the fish " refers to Mao Zedong's statement that the true revolutionary " moves through the peasantry as the fish does through water.

This statement was first conjectured in 1845 by Joseph Bertrand ( 1822 – 1900 ).

Other Christian denominations consider the Matthew 1: 25 statement that Joseph " knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son " to mean that Joseph and Mary did have normal marital relations after Jesus ' birth, and that James, Joses, Jude, and Simon were the biological sons of Mary and Joseph ; and, thus, Jesus ' half-brothers.
