Lovecraft's style has often been criticised by unsympathetic critics, yet scholars such as S. T. Joshi have shown that Lovecraft consciously utilised a variety of literary devices to form a unique style of his own-these include conscious archaism, prose-poetic techniques combined with essay-form techniques, alliteration, anaphora, crescendo, transferred epithet, metaphor, symbolism and colloquialism.

In addition to the Penguin editions mentioned above and The Annotated Supernatural Horror in Literature, Joshi has produced The Annotated H. P. Lovecraft as well as More Annotated H. P. Lovecraft, both of which are footnoted extensively.

Aniket Joshi has praised her as he wrote " Madhuri Dixit, the only female character in the film, has a small role as Paro ( Karan ´ s love interest and Prakash ´ s sister ) yet still does well in the few scenes she has.

Despite these criticisms, Joshi argues that since Gerald's Game ( 1993 ), King has been tempering the worst of his writing faults, producing books that are leaner, more believable and generally better written.

Since he first came to prominence in the mid-1960s, critics have cited Campbell as one of the leading writers in his field: T. E. D. Klein has written that " Campbell reigns supreme in the field today ", while S. T. Joshi stated, " future generations will regard him as the leading horror writer of our generation, every bit the equal of Lovecraft or Blackwood.

Other tales, such as " The End of a Summer's Day " and " Concussion ", show the emergence of Campbell's highly distinctive mature style, of which S. T. Joshi has written:

Joshi has also written a book-length study, Ramsey Campbell and Modern Horror Fiction ( 2001 ), and edited The Count of Thirty ( Necronomicon Press 1994 ), which contains critical appreciations by various authors and a long interview with Campbell himself.

Joshi comments that Serling has used pacing well, each correct for the medium and that " in spite of Serling's own doubts on the matter – he mastered the short story technique in every way.

S. T. Joshi has also seen Dunwich as being influenced by East Haddam, Connecticut, location of the " Devil's Hopyard ," the " Moodus Noises ," and a witch tradition.

The film was a critical success, yet her performance received mixed reviews ; Namarata Joshi of Outlook likened her to " a teenybopper trying to do a TV newsreading skit for her college fest " and Rediff. com concluded, " Zinta has quite a good role and a good deal of footage in the film, and she does a fairly decent job of it without ever being spectacular.

Shri Manohar Joshi has been awarded a Doctorate ( in Political Science ) by Mumbai University in 2010.

Lovecraft ( Hippocampus Press, 2 vols., 2010 published in one volume as H. P. Lovecraft: A Life, 1996 ), Joshi has prepared ( with David E. Schultz ) several annotated editions of works by Ambrose Bierce.

Joshi is known for his acerbic style, and has been described by editor Ellen Datlow as ' the nastiest reviewer in the field '.

Joshi has maintained this role for over twenty years and is currently still Official Editor.

In addition to literary criticism, Joshi has also edited books on atheism and social relations, including Documents of American Prejudice ( 1999 ), an annotated collection of American racist writings ; In Her Place ( 2006 ), which collects written examples of prejudice against women ; and Atheism: A Reader ( 2000 ), which collects atheistic writings by such people as Antony Flew, George Eliot, Bertrand Russell, Emma Goldman, Gore Vidal and Carl Sagan, among others.

Joshi has regularly reviewed in the horror field for the journals he has edited ( see above ).

Joshi became the fifth official Editor of the EOD, a position he has continued to occupy for over twenty years.
