Limerick reached the 2007 Munster Senior Hurling Championship and All-Ireland finals in 2007, but were overcome by Kilkenny GAA.

That year he won his first Munster hurling title, however, Kilkenny later accounted for Cork in the famous " thunder and lightning " All-Ireland final.

A fifth All-Ireland hurling medal was later added to his collection following a defeat of old rivals Kilkenny I the final.
