* Led by Dr. Paul L. Schechter, astronomers at the Kitt Peak National Observatory reported the discovery of a " hole " in the universe, 300 million light years in diameter, that had only one-tenth of the stars and galaxies found elsewhere.

Although this phenomenon was nothing new, ( the most famous example being Neil Blaney's " Donegal Mafia ") it increased significantly from the early 90's particularly in the Dublin Region with former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern's " Drumcondra mafia " and the separate groups supporting Tom Kitt and Séamus Brennan in Dublin South largely separate from the official party structure.

Production was started at a former munitions factory at Standish near Wigan in 1946 before the new factory at Kitt Green Wigan opened in 1959.

These telescopes are located at Kitt Peak and Cerro Tololo in the US and Chile, respectively.

Between 1966 and 1977 the Batley Variety Club was frequented by many notable acts including Louis Armstrong, Johnny Mathis, Eartha Kitt, The Bee Gees, Roy Orbison, The Hollies and Cliff Richard, among others.

" Kitt famously appeared at many LGBT fundraisers, including a mega event in Baltimore, Maryland, with George Burns and Jimmy James.

It helped jump start the careers of several young performers including Paul Lynde, Alice Ghostley, Eartha Kitt, Robert Clary, Carol Lawrence, Ronny Graham, performer / writer Mel Brooks ( as Melvin Brooks ), and lyricist Sheldon Harnick.

In 1958, the original interior was demolished and the London Hippodrome was converted into the nightclub, " The Talk of the Town " by Bernard Delfont, featuring many of the popular artists of the time, including appearances by Diana Ross & The Supremes, Judy Garland, Eartha Kitt, Shirley Bassey and The Temptations, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Sergio Franchi, Engelbert Humperdinck, Val Doonican, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, Lulu, Matt Monro, Cliff Richard, Raphael, Stevie Wonder, Sacha Distel and Neil Sedaka.

He also served as musical director for actress Polly Bergen and Victor Borge ; and arranged music for many popular singers, including Robert Goulet, Nancy Wilson, Ben Vereen, Leslie Uggams, Eartha Kitt, Diahann Carroll, Dinah Shore, Juliet Prowse and Liza Minnelli.

* On January 18, 1968, while in the White House for a conference about juvenile delinquency, black singer-entertainer Eartha Kitt yelled at Lady Bird Johnson about the generation of young men dying in the war.

Kitt was raised by Anna Mae Riley, an African-American woman whom she believed to be her mother.

She was then sent to live in New York City with Mamie Kitt, who she learned was her biological mother.

She had no knowledge of her father, except that his surname was Kitt and that he was supposedly a son of the owner of the farm where she had been born.

1995 saw Eartha Kitt appear as herself in an episode of ' The Nanny ', where she performed a song in French and flirted with Mr Shefield.

Kitt lent her distinctive voice to the role of Yzma in Disney's The Emperor's New Groove, for which she won her first Annie Award, and returned to the role in the straight-to-video sequel Kronk's New Groove and the spin-off TV series The Emperor's New School, for which she won two Emmy Awards and two more Annie Awards ( both in 2007 – 08 ) for Voice Acting in an Animated Television Production.

Kitt became a vocal advocate for homosexual rights and publicly supported same-sex marriage, which she believed to be a civil right.

Similarly, she appeared opposite Eartha Kitt in an episode of the British espionage series The Protectors, (" A Pocket Full of Posies ") in which she performed a memorable song and dance routine.

Essentially an ensemble show, primary focus was on student Marian Kitt as she came to terms with her ( frequently unwanted ) abilities.

She had a memorable exchange with Zorak in which she said, " For my money, Eartha Kitt was the best Catwoman.

Eartha Kitt was the hardest person to cast for the picture, as she was somewhat offended by her character's tone in the original script.

In 1989 Jonathan Hellyer became lead singer, and the band extensively toured the U. S. and Europe with back-up vocalist Annie Conway and had one minor hit with the song " Cha Cha Heels ", a one-off collaboration sung by American actress and singer Eartha Kitt.

Kitt Peak was selected by its first director, Aden B. Meinel, in 1958 as the site for a national observatory under contract with the National Science Foundation ( NSF ) and was administered by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy.

The composers, who sang their own songs, included Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, Michael John LaChiusa, Andrew Lippa, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Lin-Manuel Miranda ( accompanied by Rita Moreno ), Duncan Sheik, and Jeanine Tesori and David Lindsay-Abaire.

This gravitational lens was discovered accidentally by Dennis Walsh, Bob Carswell, and Ray Weymann using the Kitt Peak National Observatory 2. 1 meter telescope.

Batista endorsed Lansky ’ s idea over the objections of American expatriates such as Ernest Hemingway and the elegant hotel opened for business in 1955 with a show by Eartha Kitt.

Spacewatch, which uses a 90 centimeter telescope sited at the Kitt Peak Observatory in Arizona, updated with automatic pointing, imaging, and analysis equipment to search the skies for intruders, was set up in 1980 by Tom Gehrels and Dr. Robert S. McMillan of the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory of the University of Arizona in Tucson, and is now being operated by Dr. McMillan.

Then there was the completely unexpected, late night visit by Eartha Kitt.

Divine would remain very proud of the work, seeing it as evidence that his acting skills were coming to wider recognition, and his performances were attended by such celebrities as Eartha Kitt, Elton John and Liza Minelli.

The peak was named in English by County Surveyor George J. Roskruge for his sister, who was the wife of William F. Kitt.

At the request of the wife of George F. Kitt, the spelling was changed by decision in 1930.
