Wings ( also known as Paul McCartney & Wings ) were a British-American rock group formed in 1971 by Paul McCartney with his wife Linda McCartney, session drummer Denny Seiwell and former Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine.

Seiwell accepted, but McCracken declined, so McCartney invited Denny Laine, whom he had known since the early 1960s, to join.

In August 1971, Seiwell and Laine joined Paul and Linda McCartney to record Paul's third post-Beatles album for Apple Records.

However, McCullough and Seiwell left the band in August, at the end of rehearsals, leaving the McCartneys and Laine to cut what turned out to be Wings ' most successful album, Band on the Run, at EMI's primitive eight-track recording studio in Lagos, Nigeria.

However, ten years later, in July 2007, Laine, Juber and Seiwell reunited for one show at a Beatlefest ( now called " The Fest for Beatles Fans ") convention in Las Vegas.

In 1971 Paul McCartney asked McCullough to join his new band, Wings, alongside Denny Laine and Denny Seiwell.

Paul and Linda McCartney had worked with drummer Denny Seiwell on their prior album, Ram, and they added Denny Laine, the former leader of the Moody Blues, to that trio to become Wings.

In 1956 Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers appeared on the Frankie Laine show in New York, which was televised nationally, performing their hit " Why Do Fools Fall in Love ?".

Both Block and Jarvis appeared in Columbia Pictures ' musical comedy feature film, Make Believe Ballroom ( 1949 ), with Frankie Laine and other recording artists ; the year before, he had a cameo role in Musical Merry-Go-Round with Les Brown.

She has also appeared with Woody Herman, George Shearing, Gerry Mulligan, Peggy Lee, Joe Pass, Cleo Laine, Louis Bellson, Pete Rugolo, Bill Watrous and been a member of The Tonight Show All-Stars, The Woody Herman Thundering Herd, the Benny Carter Quintet, and the Bob Cooper Quartet.

The band recruited bassist Scott Brown, who had previously played with Paul Laine as a solo artist, and they went on tour again in the U. S ..

The song was revived by Frankie Laine in 1952, and subsequently recorded again in 1956 by Patience and Prudence, who reached # 4 on the Billboard charts with their version, and also by Lawrence Welk with The Lennon Sisters and the duo of Karen Chandler and Jimmy Wakely, Ann Shelton and The Duprees.

The new song, entitled " Answer Me, My Love ," was again recorded by Laine and Whitfield, but became a bigger U. S. hit for Nat King Cole in 1954.

Laine was a drummer, but was more noted for his skills at arranging and booking bands.

In March 1997 Laine, Juber and Holley did an impromptu " Wings " reunion at a Beatlefest convention in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The light skinned Picou sometimes worked with white bands as well in his youth, including at least on occasion Papa Jack Laine.

He was popular in the United Kingdom, breaking the record at the London Palladium formerly set by Frankie Laine.

Originally a rhythm and blues influenced jazz singer, Laine excelled at virtually every music style, eventually expanding to such varied genres as popular standards, gospel, folk, country, western / Americana, rock ' n ' roll, and the occasional novelty number.

A known cover-version is by Frankie Laine who performed this song at the 32nd Academy Awards.

Denny Laine quit in late 1966, and a final ' Mark One ' Moodies single, Pinder-Laine's " Life's Not Life ", was scheduled for release in January 1967 ( Decca F 12543 ) c / w " He Can Win ".

While not considered as one of the most virtuosic or creative of the Laine players, he was well regarded for playing a solid lead with a strong lip which allowed him to play long parades without let up or to play several gigs in a row on the same day.
