* Bay Mills is an unincorporated community in the township on Bay Mills Point, which separates the Back Bay and Waishkey Bay at the mouth of the Waishkey River from the larger Whitefish Bay on Lake Superior.

It was formerly known as " Bear Lake Mills " and was a station on the now-defunct railroad between Bloomingdale and Grand Junction.

There are old name places in the township including Postville, Utterville, Corterville, Browns, Awosting, Echo Lake, Macopin, Charlotteburg ( named after King George III's wife, Queen Charlotte and the town is now under the Charlotteburg Reservoir ), Clinton ( or sometimes called Clinton Furnace, now under the Clinton Reservoir, and the furnace still stands ), Moe Mountain, Oak Ridge ( a nameplace, but town is under the Oak Ridge Reservoir ), Newfoundland, Apshawa, New City, and Smith Mills.

* Newkirk ( formerly " Newkirks Mills ") – A hamlet southwest of Caroga Lake village on NY-10.

* Kyser Lake – A wide part of the East Canada Creek, north of Ingham Mills.

* Millers Mills – A location north of Millers Mills Crossing, located west of Unadilla Lake.

Beaverdam Lake is a hamlet in Blooming Grove and New Windsor, and Salisbury Mills is a hamlet in Blooming Grove and Cornwall.

The Mills Industrial Park at 874 Silver Lake Scotchtown Road () was the planned location for the 1969 Woodstock Festival until the Town of Walkill banned the festival in July 1969 forcing it to move to Bethel, New York where it was held less than a month later.

It also houses historic Monitor Roller Mills and a portion of North Camp Lake.
