The highest peak is Golyam Kupen at 2, 731 m. The Seven Rila Lakes are an important landmark in this part, as well as the many remote peaks and small lakes.

The interior regions Gorski kotar, Velebit and Lika have vast stretches of virginal nature, with mountain peaks, forests and fields, many animal species including bears, and the national parks of Risnjak and Plitvice Lakes.

Amid the peaks are the three Waterton Lakes, carved out of the rock by ancient glaciers.

In North America, its breeding range lies along the Saint Lawrence River, through the Great Lakes, Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Dakotas, south to Kansas, west to California, and along coastal Pacific Canada and southern coastal Alaska.

At Minto Lakes, Alaska, Green-winged Teal initiate nesting as early as June 1 and as late as July 20.

The High Desert Wetlands ecoregion is a set of Northern Basin and Range wetlands with in Oregon, including a large area around Harney and Malheur Lakes.

Mount Stuart is the highest peak in the Stuart Range, and it is located in the central part of the Washington Cascades, south of Stevens Pass and east of Snoqualmie Pass in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.

The Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway ( DM & IR ) is a railroad operating in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin that hauls iron ore and later taconite to the Great Lakes ports of Duluth and Two Harbors, Minnesota.

To the east lie the shallow basins of Snow Lake and the Michigan or American Lakes ; to the north lies a snow filled couloir ; to the west the mountain descends directly into the deep waters of Lake Agnes ; and to the south lie Static Peak, Mount Richthofen, and the remainder of the Never Summer Mountain Range.

It is located in the Sawatch Range in northwestern Chaffee County, approximately southwest of Leadville, Colorado, just south of Twin Lakes and State Highway 82 on the east side of Independence Pass.

The Grand Marais Outer Range Light is at its end, and the Fresnel lens is still operative, being one of only 70 such lenses that remain operational in the United States, sixteen of which are use on the Great Lakes of which eight are in Michigan.
