The sixth Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso, was born in Tawang.

Tsangyang was born on 1 March 1683 in Mon Tawang ( in modern Arunachal Pradesh, India ) to Lama Tashi Tenzin of Urgeling, a descendant of the treasure revealer Pema Lingpa, and Tsewang Lhamo, a Monpa girl hailing from a royal family of Bekhar Village.

Ganju Lama was born in Sangmo, southern Sikkim, India, on 22 July 1924.

Lama Anagarika Govinda ( May 17, 1898 – January 14, 1985 ), born Ernst Lothar Hoffman was the founder of the order of the Arya Maitreya Mandala and an expositor of Tibetan Buddhism, Abhidharma, Buddhist Meditation as well as other aspects of Buddhism.

Avalokiteśvara / Chenrezig, who is reincarnated on Earth as the Dalai Lama, is often closely associated with the crow because it is said that when the first Dalai Lama was born, robbers attacked the family home.

On September 17, 1990 Rinpoche's Tulku was born in Darjeeling, India to Lama Gyaltsen and his wife Drolkar.

Yonten Gyatso or Yon-tan-rgya-mtsho ( 1589 – 1617 ) was the 4th Dalai Lama, born in Mongolia on the 30th day of the 12th month of the Earth-Ox year of the Tibetan calendar.

Tsangyang Gyatso () ( 1 March 1683 – 15 November 1706 ) was the sixth Dalai Lama.

Tsultrim Gyatso ( 29 March 1816 – 1837 ) was the 10th Dalai Lama of Tibet.

From March 1996 onwards, the Dalai Lama decided to move more forcefully on this issue, which " is to be seen in connection with his interest in finding common ground in the main schools of Tibetan Buddhism so as to overcome precisely those exclusivist tendencies that Shugden is said to protect.

In March 1996, responding to increasing political pressure ( especially from the Nyingma school, who threatened to withdraw from the TGIE ), the Dalai Lama announced that Dorje Shugden was " an evil spirit " detrimental to the cause of a free Tibet, and so he began to request that those who worshiped Shugden no longer attend tantric initiations from him, which " effectively placed them outside the fold of the exiled Tibetan polity.

In remarks to members of the Cholsum Congress on March 4, 1996, the Dalai Lama expressed satisfaction that the Congress had passed a resolution addressing the worship of Dorje Shugden, implying that Tibetan Buddhists ignoring his restrictions might hasten his own death, since " then there would not be any point in my continuing to live silently as a disappointed man.

The Chinese dissident and former Red Guard Wei Jingsheng published in March 1979 a letter under his name but written by another anonymous author, denouncing the conditions at Qincheng Prison where the 10th Panchen Lama was imprisoned.

Trinley Gyatso was fully enthroned as Dalai Lama on 11 March 1873 but could not stamp his full authority on Tibet because he died of a mysterious illness on 25 April 1875.

The 9th Dalai Lama ( religious name: Lungtok Gyatso, shortened from Lobzang Tenpai Wangchuk Lungtok Gyatso ; 1 December 18056 March 1815 ), also spelled Lungtog Gyatso and Luntok Gyatso, was the 9th Dalai Lama of Tibet.

It was from the Norbulingka palace that the Dalai Lama escaped to India on 17 March 1959 under the strong belief that he would be captured by the Chinese.

Kay states that after the death of Lama Yeshe in March 1984, the FPMT lost interest because they saw it as a fruitless case.
