These ancient satrapies included: Aria ( Herat ); Arachosia ( Kandahar, Lashkar Gah, and Quetta ); Bactriana ( Balkh ); Sattagydia ( Ghazni ); and Gandhara ( Kabul, Jalalabad, Peshawar ).

The busiest and most successful CNPA unit in Afghanistan is situated in Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital of Helmand Province.

When the Tahirid dynasty of Khorasan came south to take control of the region, Ya ' qub was fighting in 852 under a local commander of Bost ( now Lashkar Gah ), Salih Ibn an-Nadr.

It is located in Lashkar Gah district, and situated between the Helmand and Arghandab rivers.

Lashkar Gah is linked by major roads with Kandahar to the east, Zaranj to the west, and Herat to the north-west.

In 2006, Ali Asad Chandia of the Virginia Jihad Network was also sentenced to 15 years in prison for providing support to a Pakistani terrorist organization, Lashkar-e-Taiba, including helping Lashkar ship 50, 000 paintballs from the U. S. to Pakistan.

Lashkar-e-Taiba ( ; literally Army of the Good, translated as Army of the Righteous, or Army of the Pure ) – also transliterated as Lashkar-i-Tayyaba, Lashkar-e-Tayyaba, Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, Lashkar-i-Taiba, Lashkar Taiba or LeT – is one of the largest and most active militant Islamist organizations in South Asia, operating mainly from Pakistan.

Besides many other local Afghan and international TV channels, there is also a Bost Television channel broadcasting from Lashkar Gah.

Bodybuilding has also attracted the youth of Lashkar Gah.

After killing Peer Khan Lodhi – styled as Khan Jahan lodhi – Shahjahan bestowed the title of deceased Peer Khan Lodhi and the Pargana of Sarwat on Sayyed Muzaffar Ali Khan, whose son Munawar Lashkar Ali establed a town in 1633, named it Muzaffarnagar in honour of his father, and Sarwat also became Muzaffarnagar.

There are around 27 schools, a teacher's training institute, an agricultural school and Bost University in Lashkar Gah.

There are different cultural groups operating in Lashkar Gah, including: the Helmand Youth Organization, the Bost Cultural Society, the Allama Mahmud Tarzi Educational and Cultural Association, and the Helmand Cultural Group.

A current project in the city, to aid regeneration is the " Lashkar Gah Bost Airport and Agriculture Center ".

While the primary focus for the Lashkar is the operations in Indian Kashmir, it has frequently provided support to other international terrorist groups.

It is located at 31 ° 30 ’ 02 ″ N, 64 ° 21 ’ 24 ″ E near the convergence of the Helmand and Arghandab Rivers, a half hour's drive south of Lashkar Gah.

** Baba-e-Millat Park is huge park which covers an area of seven hectares, and is located on the bank of Helmand river, on the outskirts of Lashkar Gah.

There is broad use of the media in Lashkar Gah.

Football is the popular sport in Lashkar Gah.

The modern city of Lashkar Gah was used as a headquarters for United States Army Corps of Engineers working on the Helmand Valley Authority ( HVA ) irrigation project in the 1950s, modeled after the Tennessee Valley Authority ( TVA ) in the United States.

One of the two primary arms of the river crosses through Lashkar Gah, giving it the attractive air of a riverside city.

The city of Lashkar Gah has undergone large scale development in the past few years with new roads, markets and residential areas constructed.

As part of Operation Moshtarak in 2010 – the British Army and local workforces constructed Route Trident, a road to connect Lashkar Gah and the northern, more economic, city of Gereshk,

Governor Mangal's efforts to restructure the city have left Route Trident underfunded but highly ranked in the priority of rebuilding Lashkar Gah.

Daulatrao Scindia shifted the capital from Ujjain to the new city of Lashkar, near the historic fortress-city of Gwalior.
