Ian Fraser " Lemmy " Kilmister ( born 24 December 1945 in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England ) is an English rock musician.

At that point Lemmy thought about changing his legal name to his stepfather's surname of Willis, but with his actual father's surname of Kilmister, he decided changing his birth certificate and passport would be too much hassle, so did not bother.

Rickenbacker produced a 60-bass run of Lemmy Kilmister signature basses, the 4004LK, which is fitted with three pickups, gold hardware, and elaborate wood carving in the shape of oak leaves.

According to Keith Emerson's autobiography, two of Lemmy's Hitlerjugend knives were given to Emerson by Lemmy during his time as a roadie for The Nice.

Despite Motörhead's many member changes over their 35-year history, the current lineup of Lemmy, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee has remained constant since 1995.

Lemmy has occasionally played electric or acoustic guitar, notably on the acoustic song " I Ain't No Nice Guy " from Motörhead's March Ör Die album, the title track on 1996's Overnight Sensation, " Limb from Limb " on Overkill ( on which he plays the second lead break ), " Boogeyman " on Rock ' n ' Roll, and a mouth harp on " Whorehouse Blues " from the Inferno album.

On Motörhead's 1999 live album Everything Louder Than Everyone Else, before the song " No Class ", Motörhead vocalist Lemmy said that he wanted to dedicate this song officially to her.

It also includes three non-Motörhead tracks: Girlschool's cover version of Motörhead's " Bomber ", a cover version of Johnny Kidd & The Pirates ' " Please Don't Touch " performed by the Motörhead / Girlschool collaboration Headgirl, and Hawkwind's original version of " Motörhead ", the song from which Motörhead frontman Lemmy took the band's name after being fired from Hawkwind.

On Motörhead's 1999 live album Everything Louder than Everyone Else, before playing " No Class " Lemmy dedicated the song to long-time friend Wendy O. Williams, who had committed suicide the previous month.

The following day, Lemmy dedicated Motörhead's performance at Sonisphere Festival in Knebworth to his memory, as well as dedicating ' Going to Brazil ' to him.

He worked with Hipgnosis before meeting Motörhead's Lemmy in 1975, he designed " War-Pig " ( aka Snaggletooth, The Iron Boar, The Bastard or The Little Bastard ) for the band's Motörhead album and has continued to design the majority of the album and single sleeve covers for the band.

In 2011 Lemmy appeared on the song " Debauchery As A Fine Art " from Michael Monroe's solo album Sensory Overdrive.

In February 2011 Lemmy acted as the driver of the limo for the Foo Fighters new music video " White Limo "

The Head Cat, the American rockabilly supergroup formed by vocalist Lemmy ( of Motörhead ), drummer Slim Jim Phantom ( of The Stray Cats ) and guitarist Danny B. Harvey ( of Lonesome Spurs and The Rockats ), recorded its version of " Somethin ' Else " for their 2011 Album, Walk the Walk, Talk the Talk.

On 9 July 2011, Tim Butcher — longtime bass technician of Motörhead leader Lemmy — reported that Würzel had died.

He attended Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones school in Amlwch, where he was nicknamed Lemmy, although he is unsure why and it would later be claimed that it originated from the phrase " lemmy me a quid till Friday " because of his habit of borrowing money from people to feed his addiction to fruit machines ( slot machines ).

Motörhead have since gone on to become one of the most influential bands in the heavy metal music genre and although Lemmy is the only constant member, are still performing and releasing records to this day.

In the 1994 comedy Airheads ( in which he is credited as " Lemmy von Motörhead "), one scene involving Brendan Fraser, Adam Sandler, and Steve Buscemi, has Brendan Fraser's character, " Chazz " Chester Darvey talking to an undercover cop who is pretending to be a record executive — Chazz asks him, " Who'd win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God?

Lemmy is God ".

Lemmy is one of the few musicians to have been mentioned on Beavis and Butt-head without being made fun of.

Lemmy also provided the voice for the arms dealer in Scarface: The World is Yours.

Lemmy is one of the characters in the book Sex Tips from Rock Stars by Paul Miles.

Lemmy is well known for his lifelong large intake of alcohol.

Lemmy uses no effects pedals: the distortion is produced naturally by the amplifiers, as they are set at such a high volume.

Motörhead, since their first album release in 1977, have had continued popularity in the punk scene, and singer Lemmy is a fan of punk rock.

Alphaville: Une étrange aventure de Lemmy Caution ( Alphaville: A Strange Adventure of Lemmy Caution ) is a 1965 black-and-white French science fiction film directed by Jean-Luc Godard.

Lemmy Caution is a secret agent with the code number of 003 from " the Outlands ".

Alpha 60 converses with Lemmy Caution several times throughout the film, and its voice is seemingly ever-present in the city, serving as a sort of narrator.

He noted in a Rolling Stone article: " I came up with my wish list of all of my favorite singers from this era which is ' 82 to ' 89 underground metal, and all the bands I listened to at the time: Eric Wagner from Trouble and Snake from Voivod and Cronos Venom ( band ) | Venom and Lemmy and Wino.

It is also home to the local secondary school, Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones which Lemmy attended, and the town also has a primary school.
