Ian Fraser " Lemmy " Kilmister ( born 24 December 1945 in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England ) is an English rock musician.

He attended Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones school in Amlwch, where he was nicknamed Lemmy, although he is unsure why and it would later be claimed that it originated from the phrase " lemmy me a quid till Friday " because of his habit of borrowing money from people to feed his addiction to fruit machines ( slot machines ).

Motörhead have since gone on to become one of the most influential bands in the heavy metal music genre and although Lemmy is the only constant member, are still performing and releasing records to this day.

In the 1994 comedy Airheads ( in which he is credited as " Lemmy von Motörhead "), one scene involving Brendan Fraser, Adam Sandler, and Steve Buscemi, has Brendan Fraser's character, " Chazz " Chester Darvey talking to an undercover cop who is pretending to be a record executive — Chazz asks him, " Who'd win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God?

Lemmy is God ".

Lemmy is one of the few musicians to have been mentioned on Beavis and Butt-head without being made fun of.

Lemmy also provided the voice for the arms dealer in Scarface: The World is Yours.

Lemmy is well known for his lifelong large intake of alcohol.

Rickenbacker produced a 60-bass run of Lemmy Kilmister signature basses, the 4004LK, which is fitted with three pickups, gold hardware, and elaborate wood carving in the shape of oak leaves.

Lemmy uses no effects pedals: the distortion is produced naturally by the amplifiers, as they are set at such a high volume.

Motörhead, since their first album release in 1977, have had continued popularity in the punk scene, and singer Lemmy is a fan of punk rock.

Alphaville: Une étrange aventure de Lemmy Caution ( Alphaville: A Strange Adventure of Lemmy Caution ) is a 1965 black-and-white French science fiction film directed by Jean-Luc Godard.

Lemmy Caution is a secret agent with the code number of 003 from " the Outlands ".

Alpha 60 converses with Lemmy Caution several times throughout the film, and its voice is seemingly ever-present in the city, serving as a sort of narrator.

Similar to Mascis's guitar work, Barlow's bass lines, with its alternating heavily distorted, fast chords and pulverizing lows, draw heavily from both his hardcore past and is influenced by musicians such as Lemmy from Motörhead and Johnny Ramone.

Iggy's name comes from Iggy Pop ; Morton's name comes from Morton Downey, Jr., while the scar star on his eye is based on KISS guitarist Paul Stanley's makeup ; Lemmy's name comes from Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead ; Ludwig's name and hairstyle comes from Ludwig van Beethoven ; Roy's name comes from Roy Orbison, as do his horn-rimmed glasses ; Wendy's name comes from Wendy O. Williams ; but while many sources claim Larry was named after the American talk show host Larry King, his name actually comes from U2 drummer Larry Mullen, Jr.

Although its official release date is January 5, 1991, Lemmy states it " came out a few weeks earlier — on my birthday, as a matter of fact ", which is December 24, 1990 continuing to say " that's a really great song — maybe we'll put it back in the set one of these days ".

Maxim has Lemmy at number 8 on its top ten " Living Sex Legends " list, as they claim that he has slept with around 1, 200 women.

The band went into the studio with some great songs, Lemmy recalls, although " Sex and Death " was written in ten minutes on the last day of recording, " In Another Time " was altered beyond all recognition and there were three sets of lyrics for " Make ' em Blind ".

When Lemmy was three months old, his father, an ex-Royal Air Force chaplain, separated from his mother.

When Lemmy was 10, his mother married George Willis, who already had two older children from a previous marriage, Patricia and Tony, with whom Lemmy did not get along.

Lemmy appeared on the song " Doctor Alibi " from Slash's self-titled solo album.

In 2011 Lemmy appeared on the song " Debauchery As A Fine Art " from Michael Monroe's solo album Sensory Overdrive.

Lemmy has also appeared in several movies from Troma Entertainment, including the narrator in 1996's Tromeo and Juliet and as himself in both Terror Firmer and Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV.

Lemmy also took part in a comedy skit titled " The Easy Guitar Book Sketch " with comedian Rowland Rivron and fellow British musicians Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Mark King from Level 42, and Gary Moore.

Lemmy has occasionally played electric or acoustic guitar, notably on the acoustic song " I Ain't No Nice Guy " from Motörhead's March Ör Die album, the title track on 1996's Overnight Sensation, " Limb from Limb " on Overkill ( on which he plays the second lead break ), " Boogeyman " on Rock ' n ' Roll, and a mouth harp on " Whorehouse Blues " from the Inferno album.

2003 saw the three surviving members of MC5 — Kramer, bassist Michael Davis, and drummer Dennis Thompson — performing as the MC5 at the 100 Club in London with Fred " Sonic " Smith's place temporarily being taken by Nicke Andersson of The Hellacopters, vocal chores at that time being filled variously by David Vanian of The Damned, Lemmy of Motörhead, Ian Astbury of The Cult, and singer Kate O ' Brien, as well as seeing Charles Moore and Buzzy Jones reprise their roles in the brass section from the High Time album.

By now the show had proved a hit, and several notable stars appeared in later productions, including Leslie Phillips, Miranda Richardson, Lionel Jeffries, Nicholas Parsons, Peter Capaldi, Kate Bush, Richard Vernon, Ruby Wax, Graham Crowden, Paul McCartney, Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy, Elvis Costello, and Benjamin Zephaniah ( as a Rastafarian police van driver ) and several musical acts, particularly from the Bad News series which was also aided by Queen guitarist Brian May, such as Def Leppard and Marillion.
