Most notably, apart from a few brief shots ( a close-up of Lennon lip-synching and a shot of the group under a tree miming playing their instruments ) the " Rain " clip virtually abandons any pretense of performance and has no obvious narrative structure.

Further, of particular note to Beatles fans, Proby recorded the Lennon – McCartney composition " That Means a Lot ", a song The Beatles had attempted several times before deciding to give it away.

While Lennon appears in the book as a separate character, several of Ormus ' traits ( especially his love of making bread at home ) seems to be inspired from him.

Harrison was arguably a dark horse in seeking a solo career after having been overshadowed among The Beatles by Lennon and McCartney, despite his creating several of the band's more popular later songs ( such as " Here Comes the Sun " and " Something "), and being the first ex-Beatle with a number-one ranked solo album and single ( All Things Must Pass and " My Sweet Lord " in 1970 ).
