James Todd Spader ( born February 7, 1960 ) is an American actor best known for his eccentric roles in films such as Pretty in Pink ; Less Than Zero ; Sex, Lies, and Videotape ; Crash ; Stargate ; and Secretary.

He starred opposite Andrew McCarthy, another friend, in Mannequin, and in the film adaptation of Less Than Zero, where he played a drug dealer named Rip.

In 1987 the band recorded a cover of the Kiss song " Rock and Roll All Nite " for the soundtrack to Less Than Zero.

More recently acts such as electro-rock outfit Panico have come to the forefront of Chilean music on the international stage, playing alongside internationally known bands such as Franz Ferdinand, Less Than Jake and Ladytron.

Less Than Jake is an American ska punk band from Gainesville, Florida, formed in 1992.

The band has recently stated its preference for EP releases, and independently issued Greetings from Less Than Jake ( 2011 ) and its counterpart, Seasons Greetings from Less Than Jake ( 2012 ).

Before the formation of Less Than Jake, vocalist and guitarist Chris Demakes, drummer Vinnie Fiorello, and bassist Shaun Grief led a local band named Good Grief while attending high school in Port Charlotte, Florida.

On July 13, 1992, Less Than Jake was born.

Shortly after the album's recording, Derron Nuhfer left the band ( going on to join Gunmoll and later Escape Grace ; he currently plays bass for Cutman, a Gainesville-based rock band featuring ex members of Escape Grace and Unitas ), and Less Than Jake found a replacement in the ashes of another ska band, this time ex-Spring Heeled Jack U. On February 16, 2012 Less Than Jake released a follow-up EP, entitled Seasons Greetings from Less Than Jake.
