Leszek Kołakowski wrote a very harsh criticism of Thompson in his 1974 essay " My Correct Views on Everything ," picking apart Thompson's left-wing views.

Leszek Kołakowski described Marcuse's views as essentially anti-Marxist, in that they ignored Marx's critique of Hegel and discarded the historical theory of class struggle entirely in favor of an inverted Freudian reading of human history where all social rules could and should be discarded to create a " New World of Happiness ".

The death of his older brothers, Leszek and Casimir, in August and October 1131, respectively, left him as the eldest son of their parents.

He was a member of the left-wing Democratic Left Alliance, the Prime Minister of Poland from 1996 to Autumn 1997, the Foreign Minister of Poland in the governments of Leszek Miller ( 2001 – 2004 ) and Marek Belka ( 2004 – 2005 ), the speaker of the Sejm ( lower chamber of the Polish parliament ) in January – October 2005 and the leftist candidate in the Polish presidential election of 1990 ( received 9 % of the votes ) and of 2005 ( withdrew before the elections and promised to abandon politics ).

In the aftermath of the 23 September 2001 parliamentary election, Prime Minister Leszek Miller asked her to join his cabinet in the position of Minister of National Education and Sport, which she fulfilled for the following two-and-a-half years from 19 October 2001 until 2 May 2004.
