Halisstra Melarn, the Lady Pentinent, was also a priestess of the Dark Maiden during the Silence of Lolth.

He was cast out of the elven pantheon, along with his mother ( Lolth ), after his and his mother's betrayal was discovered.

It is revealed at the end of Servant of the Shard that his full name is Jarlaxle Baenre and that he is the third son of Yvonnel Baenre and was once sacrificed to Lolth.

Later when it was revealed to Jarlaxle that he was indeed blessed by Lolth, the spider queen herself gave him his memories as an infant.

They've also encountered characters who appear to be from other sources as well ( a pageful of cameos including Xena and Harry Potter in one issue, Death from The Sandman appearing in another, Spider-Man being chased by an amorous Lolth in a comic strip in Dragon Magazine, etc.

His time at the academy would have been perfect ( by Drow standards ) except for the graduation ceremony, where he disgraced himself by refusing to take part in an orgy, refusing the advances of two high priestesses, one of them his sister, Vierna, and damning Lolth.

Fiercely devoted to the drow goddess Lolth, as all houses in the Menzoberranzan society are, House Baenre is led by Matron Mother Triel Baenre, a shrewd priestess of Lolth who succeeded her slain mother Yvonnel.

Menzoberranzan is a city ruled by backstabbing and ambition, and House Baenre thrived in it, holding the greatest favor of Lolth longer than any other family in Menzoberranzan history.

He wandered for some time and adventured before becoming the " leashed " Archmage of the Council of Eight ( the eight ruling houses ), according to a decree by Lolth.

Returned from death by the will of Lolth after being slain by Drizzt Do ' Urden during the end of the drow invasion of Mithral Hall, and has been reinstated as Mistress of Arach-Tinilith, the priestess school of Menzoberranzan.

He kills Ryld Argith ( as ordered by Danifae ) and is eventually sacrificed by Quenthel to the reincarnated Lolth.

The matron of House Oblodra nearly reached her goal, but an avatar of Lolth answered Matron Baenre's pleas for help and came to Menzoberranzan after the Time of Troubles had ended.

The transformation is typically a punishment for offending their goddess, Lolth, or failing one of her tests.

The combined campaign then culminates with the GDQ series, incorporating modules G1-G3 Against the Giants ; D1-D3, which introduced D & D fans to drow elves for the first time ; and finally Q1, Queen of the Demonweb Pits, in which the heroes fight against the spider demon Lolth herself.

It proves to be a rather unpleasant experience for all who are present, but the yochlols ' connection to Lolth also proves to be fairly useful when a family feels they have obtained something to please her.

Few living today know, for example, that he fathered his son Athux with none other than Eclavdra, then an up-and-coming priestess of Lolth who was growing increasingly dissatisfied with her role in that priesthood.

When Eclavdra fled the church of Lolth, Graz ' zt was there to accept her again, and even now that the infamous drow priest has returned once again to Lolth's fold, who can say if Graz ' zt's plans for her have come to full fruition?
