Lorenzo Bartolini ( 7 January 177720 January 1850 ) was an Italian sculptor who infused his neoclassicism with a strain of sentimental piety and naturalistic detail which led him furthermore Romanticism, while he drew inspiration from the sculpture of the Florentine Renaissance rather than the overpowering influence of Antonio Canova that circumscribed his Florentine contemporaries.

He is the son of Lorenzo Ridenhour.

One of the more famous examples is the painting Degas's Father Listening to Lorenzo Pagans Playing the Guitar by Edgar Degas, which was painted sometime between 1869 – 72 and is currently owned by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

It is a " predella " to go at the base of a larger composition, in this case a painting by Lorenzo di Credi from which it has become separated.

Another often-reproduced drawing is a macabre sketch that was done by Leonardo in Florence in 1479 showing the body of Bernardo Baroncelli, hanged in connection with the murder of Giuliano, brother of Lorenzo de ' Medici, in the Pazzi Conspiracy.

The only known original is held in the library of the monastery of San Lorenzo del Escorial near Madrid in Spain.

She is a key character in the opera La conquista ( 2005 ) by Italian composer Lorenzo Ferrero.

Lorenzo de ' Medici is buried in the Medici Chapel in Florence.

In 1457 the Italian humanist Lorenzo Valla wrote: "... the claim of ' Dionysius '... that he observed the eclipse of the sun at the hour of the Saviour's death ... is as blatant a fiction as the epistolary form of the report.

He sat for his portrait busts, both by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and by Alessandro Algardi, whose restrained bust in a tondo is in the Church of Santa Maria in Vallicella.

Le nozze di Figaro, ossia la folle giornata ( The Marriage of Figaro, or The Day of Madness ), K. 492, is an opera buffa ( comic opera ) composed in 1786 in four acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with a libretto in Italian by Lorenzo Da Ponte, based on a stage comedy by Pierre Beaumarchais, La folle journée, ou le Mariage de Figaro ( 1784 ).

Don Giovanni ( K. 527 ; complete title:, literally The Rake Punished, or Don Giovanni ) is an opera in two acts with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and with an Italian libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte.

* The church of Sant ' Andrea al Quirinale was designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini ( 1658 – 1671 ), for Cardinal Camillo Pamphilii ( nephew of Pope Innocent X ); it is one of the most elegant samples of baroque architecture in Rome, with its splendid interior of marble, stuccoes, and gilded decorations.

The story, which is told in the first person, centers on down-and-out actor Lawrence Smith ( stage name Lorenzo Smythe, a. k. a. " The Great Lorenzo ").
