The Chilean part of Patagonia embraces the southern part of Valdivia, Los Lagos in Lake Llanquihue, Chiloé, Puerto Montt and the Archaeological site of Monte Verde, also the fiords and islands south to the regions of Aisén and Magallanes, including the west side of Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn.

Chile is largely antipodal to China, from Arica and Itarapaca ( antipodal to Hainan ) to Los Lagos.

The Andes region is also home to arid basins, lush foothills covered with grape vineyards, glacial mountains, and half of the Los Lagos Region ( Lake District ) ( the other half is in Chile ).

The Los Lagos Region ( Lake District ), on the border of Chile and Argentina in the Andes mountain region, contains many glacial lakes that are carved out of the mountains then filled by melt-water and rain.

The island is located in southern Chile, in the Los Lagos Region.

In December 2006 two new regions were created: the northern Arica and Parinacota Region, by taking out the two northernmost provinces from the Tarapacá Region ; and Los Ríos Region in the south, encompassing the provinces of Valdivia, formerly part of the Los Lagos Region, and Ranco, formerly part of Valdivia.

This includes the Isla Victoria, Camino de los Siete Lagos, Los Arrayanes National Park, and many trekking paths among lakes.

It is spoken in an area south of the area inhabited by the Mapuche, in the nation's Los Lagos and Los Ríos regions ; and mountain valleys, between the city of Valdivia and south toward Chiloé Archipelago.

Four other roads travel west to Chile's Aysén region, including Balmaceda and Coihaique Alto, and two to Chile's Los Lagos region from Corcovado to Palena and from Esquel via Trevelin to Futaleufu.

Alerce is a Chilean town in the communes of Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas in Llanquihue Province, Los Lagos Region.

The mainland portion of Los Lagos Region south of Reloncaví Sound ( Palena Province ) is considered part of Patagonia.
