The driving force in the east African researches was the Leakey family, with Louis Leakey and his wife Mary Leakey, and later their son Richard and daughter in-law Meave being among the most successful fossil hunters and palaeoanthropologists.

One of the first known hominids, it was nicknamed ' handy man ' by discoverer Louis Leakey due to its association with stone tools.

The discovery and description of this species is credited to both Mary and Louis Leakey, who found fossils in Tanzania, East Africa, between 1962 and 1964.

It was in 1929 that the first evidence of the presence of ancient early human ancestors in Kenya was discovered when Louis Leakey unearthed 1 million year old Acheulian hand axes at Kariandusi in south west Kenya.

One of the co-authors of the paper is Meave Leakey, the daughter-in-law of Mary and Louis Leakey.

Louis Leakey hosted the first one in Nairobi in 1947.

Louis Leakey provided something of an answer by proving that man evolved in Africa.

Once seriously questioned, the intermediates did not wait for the next Pan African Congress two years hence, but were officially rejected in 1965 ( again on an advisory basis ) by Burg Wartenstein Conference # 29, Systematic Investigation of the African Later Tertiary and Quarternary, a prestigious conference in anthropology held by the Wenner-Gren Foundation, at Burg Wartenstein Castle, which it then owned in Austria, attended by the same key scholars that attended the Pan African Congress, including Louis Leakey and Mary Leakey, who was delivering a pilot presentation of her typological analysis of Early Stone Age tools, to be included in her 1971 contribution to Olduvai Gorge, " Excavations in Beds I and II, 1960-1963.

Acheulian stone tools were found there by Louis Leakey in 1931, after he had correctly identified the rocks brought back by Hans Reck to Germany from his 1913 Olduvai expedition as stone tools.

More importantly in 1931 Louis Leakey discovered older more primitive stone tools in Olduvai Gorge — these were the first examples of the oldest human technology ever discovered in Africa, subsequently known throughout the world as Oldowan after Olduvai Gorge.

The oldest hominid fossils ever discovered in Tanzania also come from Laetoli and are the 3. 6 to 3. 8 million year old remains of Australopithecus afarensis — Louis Leakey had found what he thought was a baboon tooth at Laetoli in 1935 ( which was not identified as afarensis until 1979 ), a fragment of hominid jaw with three teeth was found there by Kohl-Larsen in 1938 – 39, and in 1974 – 75 Mary Leakey recovered 42 teeth and several jawbones from the site.

From there, she obtained work as a secretary, and acting on her friend's advice she telephoned Louis Leakey, a Kenyan archaeologist and paleontologist, with no other thought than to make an appointment to discuss animals.

He continued to take roles in plays, performing under the stage names of Louis F. Baum and George Brooks.

News of Mary's betrothal to Louis provoked open oppposition from the House of Lacković, the master of the treasury Nicholas Zambo and the judge royal Nicholas Szécsi and continued to support Sigismund, now putting Hungary on the verge of civil war.

Through this period, the NBA continued to strengthen with the shift of the Minneapolis Lakers to Los Angeles, the Philadelphia Warriors to San Francisco, the Syracuse Nationals to Philadelphia to become the Philadelphia 76ers, and the St. Louis Hawks moving to Atlanta, as well as the addition of its first expansion franchises.

With regards to the imperial question, although both Sergius and Theophylact did not support the continued nominal rule of Emperor Louis, they were somewhat unwilling to grant the imperial title to the only other contender, Berengar I of Italy.

He continued to reside in St. Louis until 1925, when he finally made the move to Taos.

Louis XVIII urged Bonaparte to restore the Bourbons to their throne, but the future emperor was immune to Louis's requests and continued to consolidate his position as ruler of France.

The Bastille continued to be used as a prison and a royal fortress under both Henry IV and his son, Louis XIII.
