Manuel II (; ; 15 November 1889 – 2 July 1932 ) was the last King of Portugal, " the Patriot " () or " the Wretched " (), ascending the throne after the assassination of his father, King Carlos I of Portugal, and his elder brother, Luís Filipe, Prince Royal of Portugal.

Manuel Maria Filipe Carlos Amélio Luís Miguel Rafael Gabriel Gonzaga Francisco de Assis Eugénio de Bragança was born in the last year of the reign of his grandfather, King Luís I ; he was the third child, and last son, born to Carlos I of Portugal and Amélie of Orleans in the Palace of Belém, Lisbon, seven months before his father ascended the Portuguese throne.

Most notably, Carbonari members were active in the assassination of King Carlos I of Portugal and his heir, Prince Luís Filipe, Duke of Bragança in 1908.

By this marriage, celebrated in 1387, John I became the father of a generation of princes called by the poet Luís de Camões, the " marvellous generation ", who led Portugal into its golden age, during the period of the Discoveries.

It was also applied in Brazil, Italy, Mexico, Montenegro, Portugal ( where, although this is the general rule, Kings Joseph and Luís are usually referred to as " Joseph I " and " Luís I ", although there were no Joseph II, nor Luís II ) and by the Papacy under Pope John Paul I.

Luís Filipe, Prince Royal of Portugal, (; Dom Luís Filipe Maria Carlos Amélio Francisco Víctor Manuel António Lourenço Miguel Rafael Gabriel Gonzaga Xavier Francisco de Assis Bento de Orleães Bragança e Saxe-Coburgo-Gotha ; 21 March 1887 – 1 February 1908 ) was the eldest son of King Carlos I of Portugal.

Infanta Dona Ana de Jesus Maria of Portugal (; English: full name: Ana de Jesus Maria Luís Gonzaga Joaquina Micaela Rafaela Francisca Xavier de Paula de Bragança e Bourbon ; Mafra, 23 October 1806 – Rome, 22 June 1857 ) was a Portuguese infanta and youngest daughter of King John VI of Portugal and his wife Carlota Joaquina of Borbón.

In January 1905, the Duke and Duchess of Connaught visited Portugal where they were received by King Carlos and his queen, Amélie of Orléans, whose sons Luís Filipe, Duke of Braganza, and Prince Manuel entertained the young British princesses.

The King was killed ; his heir-apparent, Luís Filipe, Prince Royal of Portugal was mortally wounded ; Infante Manuel was hit in the arm ; Queen Amélie of Orleans was unharmed.

The king died immediately, his heir, Luís Filipe, was mortally wounded, and Prince Manuel was hit in the arm.

These two creations are deemed invalid by some legalists, who accordingly number the dukes in a way that Luís Filipe, Prince Royal of Portugal, the last Duke of Braganza during the period of Portuguese monarchy, is reckoned to be the 21st Duke.

On 1 February 1908 King Charles I of Portugal was murdered with his eldest son and heir, Luís Filipe, the last individual during the monarchy to carry that title.

Among its representatives were most of the leaders between Francisco Sá Carneiro and Cavaco Silva, Alberto João Jardim ( also a founding member and an anti-neoliberal ) and to an extent Luís Filipe Menezes ( who called the PSD the " moderate left party ", identified himself with a centre-left matrix and a united left strategy and defended a more open party on issues like abortion.

Luís Filipe Meneses is frequently described as a populist but he tried to lead the party back to a “ left ” line, and doesn ’ t identify or act like the liberal conservative / conservative liberal populists.

Lisbon, São Sebastião da Pedreira, 27 February 1954 ) Maria Ivone Risques Pereira de Santana ( Lisbon, São Sebastião da Pedreira, 3 May 1931 – Lisbon, 23 March 1999 ), a half-great-great-great-niece of the 2nd Baron of Brissos.

Among its most renowned singers were Edmundo Bettencourt and António Menano, in the 1930s and 40s, and José Afonso, Adriano Correia de Oliveira, Luís Goes and João Maria Tudela, in the 1950s and 60s, the two so called " golden ages " of the genre.
