He was the brother of Lucrezia Borgia ; Giovanni Borgia ( Juan ), Duke of Gandia ; and Gioffre Borgia ( Jofré in Catalan ), Prince of Squillace.

Cesare was also father to at least 11 illegitimate children, among them Girolamo Borgia, who married Isabella Contessa di Carpi, and Lucrezia Borgia, who, after Cesare's death, was moved to Ferrara to the court of her aunt, Lucrezia Borgia.

A year after her marriage to Isabella's brother, Alfonso in 1502, the notorious Lucrezia Borgia became the mistress of Francesco.

" In February 1858, he played in Lucrezia Borgia at the Arch Street Theatre.

Lucrezia Borgia (; 18 April 1480 – 24 June 1519 ) was the illegitimate daughter of Rodrigo Borgia, the powerful Renaissance Valencian who later became Pope Alexander VI, and Vannozza dei Cattanei.

Lucrezia Borgia was born at Subiaco, near Rome.

This painting may be the only surviving formal portrait of Lucrezia Borgia ; however, doubts have been cast on that claim.

Following her divorce from Sforza, Lucrezia was married to the Neapolitan Alfonso of Aragon, the half-brother of Sancha of Aragon who was the wife of Lucrezia's brother Gioffre Borgia.

Lucrezia Borgia died in Ferrara on 24 June 1519 from complications after giving birth to her eighth child.

The Sforza would later join with the Borgia Family, through the arranged marriage of Lucrezia Borgia to Giovanni ( the illegitimate son of Costanzo I of Pesaro ).

Giovanni Sforza, first husband of Cesare's sister Lucrezia, was soon ousted from Pesaro ; Pandolfo Malatesta lost Rimini ; Faenza surrendered, its young lord Astorre III Manfredi being later drowned in the Tiber river by Cesare's order.

Francesco's affair with Lucrezia, whose beauty was renowned, caused Isabella much jealous suffering and emotional pain.

His mother Lucrezia Tornabuoni was a poet and writer of sonnets.

Lorenzo was considered the brightest of the five children of Piero and Lucrezia, tutored by a diplomat, Gentile Becchi.

Lucrezia was cast as a femme fatale, a role she has been portrayed as in many artworks, novels, and films.

Lucrezia was married to Giovanni Sforza ( Lord of Pesaro ), Alfonso of Aragon ( Duke of Bisceglie ), and Alfonso I d ' Este ( Duke of Ferrara ).

One painting, Portrait of a Youth by Dosso Dossi at the National Gallery of Victoria, was identified as a portrait of Lucrezia in November 2008.

On 26 February 1491, a matrimonial arrangement was drawn up between Lucrezia and the Lord of Val D ' Ayora in the kingdom of Valencia, Don Cherubino Joan de Centelles, which was annulled less than two months later in favour of a new contract engaging Lucrezia to Don Gaspare Aversa, count of Procida.

The generally accepted version is that Lucrezia was informed of this by her brother Cesare, and she warned her husband, who fled Rome.

However, some time after Alexander's death, Giovanni went to stay with Lucrezia in Ferrara, where he was accepted as her half-brother.

Neither partner was faithful: beginning in 1503, Lucrezia enjoyed a long relationship with her brother-in-law, Francesco II Gonzaga, Marquess of Mantua as well as a love affair with the poet Pietro Bembo.

Francesco's wife was the cultured intellectual Isabella d ' Este, the sister of Alfonso, to whom Lucrezia had made overtures of friendship to no avail.

The affair between Francesco and Lucrezia was passionate, more sexual than sentimental as can be attested in the fevered love letters the pair wrote one another.

Another mistress was Lucrezia Crivelli, who bore him another illegitimate son, Giovanni Paolo, born in the year of Beatrice's death.

She bore him two sons, Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar Mendoza, who was once selected to be the husband of Lucrezia Borgia, and another, who was named Diego Hurtado de Mendoza, 1st Count of Melito in Italy, not to be confounded with other people mentioned also above and who was the grandfather of the princess of Eboli of the reign of Philip II of Spain ( see Antonio Perez ).

He was passed from one protector to another, and finally resided with Lucrezia as her half-brother.

Lucrezia ’ s second marriage, to young and wealthy Prince Alfonso of Aragon, allowed the Borgias to form an alliance with another powerful family.

When Lucrezia ’ s second husband, Alfonso, the Duke of Bisceglie, was no longer important to the Borgias, Cesare strangled him ( or had him strangled ) when he was still recovering from another attempt of assassination on his life.

Her notable films include Lady Hamilton ( 1921 ; her breakthrough role ); Lucrezia Borgia ( 1926 ); Die Csardasfürstin ( 1927, based on the operetta by Emmerich Kálmán ); and the talkies Das Lied ist aus ( The Song Is Ended ) ( 1930 ) and Ungeküsst soll man nicht schlafen gehn ( 1936 ).

Maria was the wife of Francesco d ' Este, Marchese di Massalombarda, a captain under Charles V ; Francesco was a son of the notorious Lucrezia Borgia, and her husband Alfonso I d ' Este ).

On returning to Novellara, she became sexually involved with Claudio, an illegitimate son of Count Francesco of Novellara, and took part in a plot to murder his uncle on the death of his father as an attempt to gain his inheritance and title ; while Claudio escaped justice, Lucrezia was caught with some of the other conspirators, and she died in prison in 1584.

The first Manon was Marie Heilbron ; other noted interpreters include Sybil Sanderson ( Massenet's personal favorite ), Fanny Heldy, Lucrezia Bori, Bidu Sayao, Victoria de los Ángeles, Anna Moffo, Beverly Sills, Edita Gruberova, Renée Fleming, Anna Netrebko, and Natalie Dessay.

Noted soprano interpreters of Mignon have included Emma Albani ( Covent Garden's first Mignon in 1874 ), Lucrezia Bori, and Geraldine Farrar ; mezzo-sopranos have included Marilyn Horne, Giulietta Simionato, Frederica von Stade, Risë Stevens, and Ebe Stignani.

Alexander married Lucrezia to Giovanni Sforza ; in so doing, he united the Borgia and Sforza families.

There is no documentation to support reports of romantic liaisons with the singers Caterina Gabrielli and Lucrezia Aguiari ; no mention of love affairs with these singers pre-dates the publication of the fifth edition of the Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians ( 1954 ).

Lucrezia was first presented at New York's American Theatre on 11 May 1843 and later at the Astor Opera House in 1847: with Giulia Grisi in 1854 ; and with Thérèse Tietjens and Brignoli in 1876.

The peace was apparently cemented when Lucrezia Mongfish, daughter of one of the more villainous Sparks, consented to marry Bill Heterodyne ; the concurrent disappearance of her other suitor, Klaus Wulfenbach, appears to have passed without comment.

A bit over four years after Wulfenbach's disappearance, the peace is shattered by an attack on the mechanically sentient Castle Heterodyne ; Bill and Barry return to find Lucrezia apparently kidnapped — and, though the details are kept secret from all but their closest associates, Bill and Lucrezia's son Klaus Barry had been killed.

Zeetha was shocked to find out Agatha and her missing uncle are not the only two who know about Skifander when Baron Wulfenbach addressed her in her native tongue ; Lucrezia during her possession of Agatha also recognized her as a Skifandrian.

Her first child, Anna, born in 1531, was followed by Alfonso, in 1533 ; Lucrezia, 1535 ; after these, Eleonora and Luigi ; whose education she carefully directed.

Taylor is possibly best recalled for her roles in the 1922 drama Monte Cristo, opposite John Gilbert ; the enormously successful 1923 Cecil B. DeMille directed The Ten Commandments as Miriam, the sister of Moses ; as Lucrezia Borgia in the 1926 Warner Bros .' first feature-length film with synchronized Vitaphone sound effects and musical soundtrack Don Juan, with John Barrymore, Mary Astor and Warner Oland ; 1927's New York, featuring Ricardo Cortez and Lois Wilson ; 1931's Street Scene with Sylvia Sidney ; the Academy Award-winning Cimarron ; and the Clara Bow talkie Call Her Savage in 1932.
