Luke's and story
Luke's story, though only four verses long, has been a complex source of inspiration, interpretation, and debate for centuries.
In 1943, Laughton recorded a reading of the Nativity story from St. Luke's Gospel, and this was released in 1995 on CD on a Nimbus Records collection entitled Prima Voce: The Spirit of Christmas Past.

The date of the Gospel of Luke is traditionally fixed to some time before the end of the final events of Luke's second volume to Theophilus, Acts, so as early as 59 or 60.

The annunciation to the shepherds of the birth of the Christ is represented in the words of St Luke's Gospel.
