The United States Postal Service operates several post offices in Galveston, including the Galveston Main Post Office and the Bob Lyons Post Office Station.

Its east-to-west thoroughfare is Main Street, which is part of an unnumbered straight chain of roads connecting NE and central Berks as well as Topton with Lyons and Fleetwood.

Main Street, which changes into Lyons Creek Road outside of the village, makes the most direct connection with a major highway-the Queen Elizabeth Way 6 km away.

From Joliet to Lyons, the original S. B. I 4 followed the route of modern IL 171, along Archer Avenue, except for a jog through Lemont on State and Main streets to bypass an unpaved section of Archer Avenue.

At the end of 1994, Lyons sold its Lyons Biscuits Ltd. to Hillsdown Holdings, which later sold it to a U. S. investment firm which subsequently sold it to large biscuit manufacturer Burton's Foods Ltd ..

In 1938, after William Dieterich declined to run for re-election, Lucas was elected to the U. S. Senate over Republican Richard J. Lyons, with a 51 %- 48 % victory.
