The group broke up in 1980, and MacKaye and Nelson formed Minor Threat, who became a big influence on the hardcore punk genre.

After the hardcore punk group Minor Threat dissolved, Ian MacKaye ( vocals and guitar ) was active with a few short-lived groups, most notably Embrace.

Dischord Records, owned and run by Jeff Nelson, drummer for Minor Threat and Ian MacKaye, the frontman for Minor Threat, and later Embrace, Fugazi and the Evens put out records by many of these bands.
The Evens are significant for fans of MacKaye because it is his first project aside from Fugazi since Pailhead ( 1988 ), his first non-Fugazi related LP since Embrace, released in 1987, and his first and probably only music video with " Vowel Movement ".

After that band broke up, MacKaye decided to switch from bass guitar to vocals, and organized Minor Threat with drummer Nelson, bassist Brian Baker, and guitarist Lyle Preslar.
