Until it could be dated, it was moved to the Macclesfield District Council Hospital for storage.

Wanting to complete the line-up with someone they knew well and whose musical skill and style was compatible with their own, New Order invited Morris's girlfriend, Gillian Gilbert from Macclesfield, to join the band during the early part of October 1980, as keyboardist and guitarist.

The painter Charles Tunnicliffe was born in Langley and painted many birds at the four reservoirs behind the village in Macclesfield Forest.

Mottram in Longdendale Parish was one of the eight ancient parishes of the Macclesfield Hundred of Cheshire.

At one time it was also the terminus of a branch of the Caldon Canal ( aka the Uttoxeter Canal ), although most signs of this, apart from an area of Uttoxeter called " The Wharf ", have now disappeared — largely because much of the bed of the canal was used in the 19th century as the route of the North Staffordshire Railway main line from Uttoxeter to Macclesfield ( which has now also disappeared ).

The line has its main core which was expanded into a complex system of branches and divergences serving also the major towns and cities of Northampton, Coventry, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Macclesfield, Stockport, Manchester, Runcorn, and Liverpool ; there is also a link to Edinburgh, but this is not the direct route between London and Edinburgh.

The decision to merge the boroughs of Crewe and Nantwich, Congleton and Macclesfield to create a single unitary authority was announced on 25 July 2007, following a consultation period in which a proposal to create a single Cheshire unitary authority was rejected.

The Middlewood Way is a ten-mile ( 16 km ) " linear park " in England, between Macclesfield and Rose Hill Marple, that was opened on 30 May 1985 by Dr David Bellamy.

Middlewood Way follows the route of the former Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple railway, which had operated between 1869 and 1970.

The exception to this is the tarmac section between Bollington and Macclesfield, which is suitable for all cycles.

Shining Tor is a hill in the Peak District of England, between the towns of Buxton and Macclesfield, lying on the border between Derbyshire and Cheshire.

The London and North Western Railway ( LNWR ) opened the line between Manchester and Macclesfield on 19 June 1849.

During the 1860s the North Staffordshire Railway collaborated with the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire railway ( MS & LR ) to construct a joint railway between Macclesfield and Marple near Manchester.

Tunnicliffe was born in 1901 in Langley, Macclesfield, England, and spent his early years living on a farm in nearby Sutton, where he saw much wildlife.
