Maharishi Shiksha Sansthan ( MSS ) is a registered society which oversees Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools ( MVMS ) and Maharishi Ideal Girls Schools located across India.

In September 2011, the Maharishi School became one of 24 independent schools in the country to be awarded full state funding as part of the government Free Schools initiative.

According Maharishi Jyotish, the solar system has an influence on the human brain, cells and DNA.

It has 3000 shlokas in 8 chapters and was attributed by Shastry to Maharishi Bharadvaja, which makes it of purportedly " ancient " origin, and hence it has a certain notability in ancient astronaut theories.

More recently, the work of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Shirdi Sai Baba, Sathya Sai Baba, Swami Muktananda, Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati, Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Shriram Sharma Acharya, Pramukh Swami Maharaj, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and Mata Amritanandamayi has inspired millions to create new centers of spiritual development.

By the late 2000s, TM had been taught to millions of individuals and the Maharishi oversaw a large multinational movement which has continued since his death in 2008.

MVED has created educational enterprises such as Maharishi Vedic University and Maharishi Medical Center, and has overseen the construction and development of Maharishi Peace Palaces owned by the Global Country of World Peace ( GCWP ) in 30 locations in the USA.

The Maharishi School in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, England is the only specialist TM school in the country and has 100 pupils aged between four and 16, and at Limeside Primary in Oldham, half of the teaching staff now regularly meditate.

Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health uses 40 approaches, each one based on one of the 40 branches of Vedic literature.

The birth name, birth date, and caste of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi are not known with certainty, in part because of the tradition of ascetics and monks to renounce family connections.

It was also then that he was first publicly known with the name " Maharishi " an honorific title meaning " great sage " after receiving the title from " Indian Pundits ".

In April 1961, the Maharishi conducted his first Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh, India with sixty participants from various countries.

While travelling in America, the Maharishi met with Robert Maynard Hutchins, the head of the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions, and U Thant, the Secretary General of the United Nations.

Lennon wrote the song " Maharishi " ( with the lines: " what have you done?

McCartney said The Beatles ' association with the Maharishi was " a public mistake ", and Lennon " an error of judgment ".

Deepak Chopra, who met and became a " disciple of the Maharishi's " in the 1990s before later splitting, said in 2008 that the Maharishi had a " falling out with the rock stars when he discovered them using drugs ".

Yoko Ono said in 2008 that if Lennon were alive he probably would have reconciled with the Maharishi.

In 1970, the Maharishi held a TM teacher training course at a Victorian hotel located in Poland Springs, Maine with 1, 200 participants.

By 1971 the Maharishi had completed thirteen world tours and visited 50 countries and held a press conference with American inventor Buckminster Fuller at his first International Symposium on SCI at the university in Amherst, Massachusetts.

The Maharishi commissioned plans from a prominent architect for the world's tallest building, a Vedic-style pyramid to be built in São Paulo, Brazil, and to be filled with Yogic Flyers and other TM endeavours.
