* 1965 – Malcolm X is assassinated at the Audubon Ballroom in New York City by members of the Nation of Islam.

The Nation of Islam's notable leaders are Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X, Louis Farrakhan and Warith Deen Mohammed.

Malcolm X rose rapidly to become the minister of Boston Temple No. 11, which he founded ; he was later rewarded with the post of minister of Temple No. 7.

Elijah Muhammad named Malcolm X the National Representative of the Nation of Islam, his second in rank.

Louis X first proved himself at Temple No. 7 in Harlem, where he emerged as the protege of Malcolm X. Louis X was appointed head minister of Boston Temple No. 11, which Malcolm X had established earlier.

The official beliefs of the Nation of Islam have been outlined in books, documents, and articles published by the organization, as well as speeches by Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X, Louis Farrakhan, and other ministers.

During the time when Malcolm X was a member and leader of the Nation of Islam, he preached that black people were genetically superior to white people but were dominated by a system of white supremacy:

The Nation of Gods and Earths, sometimes referred to as NGE or NOGE, the Five-Percent Nation, or the Five Percenters is an American organization founded in 1964 in the Harlem section of the borough of Manhattan, New York City, by Clarence 13X ( born Clarence Edward Smith ), a former student of Malcolm X, who left his mosque because he disagreed with the Nation of Islam over the nature and identity of God.

The Nation of Gods and Earths was founded by Clarence 13X after he left the Nation of Islam's Temple Number Seven in Harlem, New York ( the same temple where Malcolm X was a minister from 1960 to 1963 ).

A significant proportion of the workforce was culled while technical director Malcolm Oastler and designer Andy Green left.

While serving as a Shadow Parliamentary Secretary, Mirabella attracted controversy in January 2008 when she launched an attack on former Liberal Party Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, after a speech he gave at Melbourne University on " the Bush Administration ( reversing ) 60 years of progress in establishing a law-based international system ", claiming errors and " either intellectual sloppiness or deliberate dishonesty ", and that he tacitly supports Islamic fundamentalism, should have no influence on foreign policy, and that his stance on the war on terror has left him open to caricature as a " frothing-at-the-mouth leftie ".

He left behind his wife, Mrs. Camilla F. McElroy, his eldest daughter, Mrs. Nancy M. Folger, his younger daughter, Mrs. Barbara M. Dimling, his son, Mr. Malcolm McElroy, and nine grandchildren.

A few other prominent figures, most notably Party President Malcolm McDonald, also left the party at this stage.

After Malcolm X left the Nation of Islam in 1964, he founded the Organization of Afro-American Unity ( OAAU ).

During this time the Nation of Islam attracted Malcolm Little.

Under Malcolm X's lieutenancy, the Nation claimed a membership of 500, 000.

After Malcolm X's break with the Nation in 1964, Farrakhan replaced him as head minister of Harlem's Temple No. 7 and as the National Representative of the Nation, the second in command of the organization.

Prominent One Nation Conservatives in the contemporary party include Kenneth Clarke, Malcolm Rifkind and Damian Green ; they are often associated with the Tory Reform Group and the Bow Group.

In 1965, after breaking with the Nation of Islam and denouncing its separatist doctrine, Malcolm X told his followers that the Nation of Islam under Elijah Muhammad had made agreements with the American Nazi Party and the Ku Klux Klan that " were not in the interests of Negros.

Rather than talking about his own life, Malcolm X spoke about Elijah Muhammad, the leader of the Nation of Islam.
