Moretti-Harrah, in a 3 ½ year project shared by Gray-Knox Marble Company of Knoxville, supplied much of the marble for the U. S. Supreme Court Building, including thirty-six massive interior columns measuring 22 ’ long x 3 ’ 4 ” in diameter.

Features of the interior include columns of Purbeck Marble, stiff-leaf carving, and the tomb of Lady Eleanor Percy, dating from around 1340 and covered with a richly-decorated canopy, regarded as one of the best surviving examples of Gothic art.

The north porch has an inner component dating from 1200, with black Purbeck Marble columns, and an outer hexagonal portion built in 1325 which is ogee-cusped with a Moorish appearance.

The windows had sills and columns of Purbeck Marble, the whole forming an impressive composition appropriate to the second most important space in the abbey after the church.

One such significant merger was in 1929when the Madras Marble Company ( formerly Sylacauga Marble Corporation ) merged with Moretti-Harrah.

Alabama Marble Company remained under the same management until 1963 when it merged with The Georgia Marble Company.

Sylacauga offers many other opportunities for outdoor activities, including Noble Park, with a playground and picnic and grill areas as well as a quarter-mile walking track ; the Marble City BMX Track and skate park ; city pool that in converted to an indoor pool in the winter months ; Lake Howard which has area for boating, fishing, and pavilions ; several neighborhood parks ; the Sylaward Trail, a 15-mile hiking and mountain-biking trail that runs through the Talladega National Forest ; and two golf courses, Sylacauga Country Club and Farm Links.

Finally, in 1868, the name of the town was changed again, this time to Marble Hill, to prevent confusion with the already existing Dallas County, Missouri.

Disputes with leaders of Marble Hill persuaded the railroad to relocate their route through Lutesville instead.

Lutesville, which had been founded in 1869 and later became the main business and shipping center for the area, merged with Marble Hill and maintained the name of Marble Hill because it was the current county seat.
