Marcos Orlando Letelier del Solar ( April 13, 1932 – September 21, 1976 ) was a Chilean economist, Socialist politician and diplomat during the presidency of Socialist President Salvador Allende.

The UNIDO would later be an umbrella coalition for opposition against Ferdinand Marcos.

In 1987, the opposition parties who wanted to distance both from the Marcos & Aquino cliques formed the Grand Alliance for Democracy ( GAD ) headed by former Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile and Francisco Tatad.

Another segment of KBL who are still Marcos loyalists joined forces with the Union for Peace & Progress or UPP while other loyalists shifted to the Aquino clique.

Some well-known men who adopted noms de guerre include Carlos the Jackal, for Ilich Ramírez Sánchez ; Willy Brandt, Chancellor of West Germany ; and Subcomandante Marcos, the spokesman of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation ( EZLN ).

As his mother participated in the revolt against Marcos Pérez Jiménez ( holding weapons and hiding politicians in her home ), Rodríguez lived in exile in Ecuador with her and his brother, for a couple of years.

In December 1938, Mariano Marcos, his brother Pio, his son Ferdinand, and his brother-in-law Quirino Lizardo were prosecuted for the murder of Julio Nalundasan, one of Marcos ' father's political rivals.

On September 20, 1935, the day after Nalundasan ( for the second time ) defeated Mariano Marcos for the National Assembly seat for Ilocos Norte, Nalundasan was shot and killed in his house in Batac.
