The Simpsons pay a pop culture reference to this film, as King Wrong ( Homer Simpson ) battles Bridezilla ( Marge Simpson ).

The series is a satirical parody of a middle class American lifestyle epitomized by its family of the same name, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie.

Marge Simpson is the wife of Homer and mother of Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson.

In " The Way We Was " ( season two, 1991 ), it is revealed via flashback that Marge attended Springfield High School, and in her final year met Homer Simpson.

These include working as a nuclear technician alongside Homer at Springfield Nuclear Power Plant in " Marge Gets a Job " ( season four, 1992 ); selling houses in " Realty Bites " ( season nine, 1997 ); owning her own pretzel business in " The Twisted World of Marge Simpson " ( season eight, 1997 ), and working at an erotic bakery in " Sex, Pies and Idiot Scrapes " ( season 20, 2008 ).

During the third season of the show, most of the writers focused on Bart and Homer, so David M. Stern decided to write a Marge episode, which became " Homer Alone " ( season three, 1992 ).

Voices were needed for the shorts, so the producers decided to ask Kavner and fellow cast member Dan Castellaneta to voice Marge and Homer rather than hire more actors.

Marge often provides a grounding opinion for Homer and their marriage has often been shaky.

Marge admits that she " put up with a lot in marriage ," and has left Homer or thrown him out of the house on several occasions.

In " Homer the Heretic " ( season four, 1992 ), Homer starts skipping church and Marge tells him " don't make me choose between my man and my God, because you just can't win.

The Simpsons episode " Catch ' Em If You Can ", aired 25 April 2004, alluded to the snob appeal of The Economist in an exchange between Homer and Marge Simpson while they are travelling first-class aboard an airplane:

The ghosts of Homer and Marge watch Bart taunt Milhouse, and Homer attempts to talk Marge in to having ghost sex with him, only for Marge to tell him that " ghost sex is nothing.

* Marge Raymond was hired to sing background vocals by Steve Marriot and appears on the Go for the Throat and On to Victory albums.

Marge then reaffirms her love for Homer as they sing " You Are So Beautiful " together into the night.

Marge, appalled by this, starts crying, and when this is shown on the Jumbotron, the fighting stops and the Sea Captain suggests that everyone should sing a sweet, soothing hymn like Canada's national anthem instead of a " hymn to war " like The Star-Spangled Banner.

He enthusiastically abandons his bar, its regular customers, and his friends when a better opportunity comes along, such as the drink " The Flaming Moe ", the opening of his postmodern bar " m ", the conversion of his bar into a family-themed restaurant called Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag and a British themed pub with Marge called the Nag and Weasel.

Homer and Bart set out for help, unaware that Maggie is tagging along, while Marge and Lisa stay behind.

Marge, having been rescued along with Lisa by park rangers, identifies the monster in question as her husband.

When Mr. Burns introduces his new religion, most of the sequence is a parody of the promotional video of Michael Jackson's 1995 album HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I. Willie scratching his nails along the church window to get Marge and Reverend Lovejoy's attention is a reference to the 1975 film Jaws, in which the character Quint performs a similar action.

Mike Clark of USA Today also highlighted " Kamp Krusty " and " Krusty Gets Kancelled " as better episodes of the season, along with " A Streetcar Named Marge " and " Lisa the Beauty Queen ".

Later, we see Homer and Marge snuggling in bed, and Marge says that she knew all along that Homer was the Pie Man ( namely because it couldn't have been anyone else in the suit ).

In an earlier version of the episode, Marge would have ended up apologizing to Lisa for not supporting her, letting the ending be more of a nod to Lisa's correct assumptions all along.

He also stands up for the little guy by helping Bart get a girlfriend for an upcoming school dance and helps Marge get two free hair streaks ( along with helping the beauty salon increase its profit margin to accommodate Marge's streaks ).

Homer, however, informs Marge that while he was at the courthouse, he took the opportunity to change her name to " Chesty La Rue ", along with the alternative names " Busty St. Claire " and " Hootie McBoob.

After Artie drops Marge off at her house, she returns in her car to pick up Homer, realizing that he was the man for her all along.

On February 7, 2006, " Large Marge " was released in the United States on a DVD collection titled The Simpsons Kiss and Tell: The Story of Their Love, along with the season nine episode " Natural Born Kissers ", the season fourteen episode " Three Gays of the Condo ", and the season fifteen episode " The Way We Weren't ".

" The episode was part of a DVD boxed set release called: The Simpsons Kiss and Tell: The Story of Their Love, and in his review of the release Andy Dougan of the Evening Times characterized the episode along with " Large Marge ", " Three Gays of the Condo ", and " The Way We Weren't " as " four of the funniest episodes of recent series.

Unfortunately, when they go to an Oktoberfest featuring Grammy-winning nuclear polka band Brave Combo, Marge, who tries to go through the night without drinking, gives in and ends up drunk along with Homer.

Brown performed several dance routines in the film, and famed choreographer Gower Champion appeared along with first wife Marge.

Shaffer wrote that " Sweet and Sour Marge ", along with " Homer the Moe ", " The Frying Game ", and " The Old Man and the Key " " represent some of the worst of The Simpsons.
