Manor Park's Itchycoo Park ( officially Little Ilford Park ) was made famous in a song by the Small Faces, whose lead singer Steve Marriott lived in the area.

The band also performed two Marriott / Lane original compositions, a fast and loud " Come on Children " and the " speed enhanced " song " E too D ", in which Marriott would display his considerable vocal abilities in the style of his heroes and role models, Otis Redding and Bobby Bland.

In a 2000 interview, Kenney Jones stated the reason Winston was fired from the band was because " He ( Winston ) got above his station and tried to compete with Steve Marriott.

Citing frustration at their failure to break out of their pop image and their inability to reproduce the more sophisticated material properly on stage, Marriott was already looking ahead to a new band, Humble Pie, with Peter Frampton.

Marriott originally wanted to give the name to a band he was producing, called The Little People.

In September 2007 Marriott, along with the other members of the Small Faces and manager Don Arden were honoured with a plaque unveiled in Carnaby Street, on the site of Don Arden's offices, the spiritual home of the band in the 1960s.

Marriott's Telecaster ended its days with the Small Faces at Alexandra Palace, breaking in two as it was thrown down in disgust during the gig on New Year's Eve when Marriott announced his decision to leave the band.

The original band lineup featured Steve Marriott from The Small Faces, vocalist and guitarist Peter Frampton from The Herd, former Spooky Tooth bassist Greg Ridley and seventeen-year-old drummer Jerry Shirley.

In late 1968 Steve Marriott formed Humble Pie with Greg Ridley, Peter Frampton and Jerry Shirley who had been the drummer for the mod band Apostolic Intervention.

At the beginning of the promotional tour for the Go for the Throat album, Marriott crushed his hand, delaying earlier scheduled appearances by the band and he later developed a duodenal ulcer forcing the cancellation of all further tour dates.

Steve Marriott and the rest of the band replaced Winston with Ian McLagan.

The band consists of Ben Mallott ( DJ and keyboards ), Matt Chandler ( guitar ), Tom Marriott ( trombone ), Wayne Urquhart ( cello ) and Vesa Haapanen ( drums ).

Chandler studied music in Liverpool, and Marriott in London where Marriott met the others and the band began.

Tom Marriott has been a longtime member of the Bollywood Brass Band and he also plays with experimental improv band Snorkel ( with releases through the label Slowfoot ), and has a solo techno project under the moniker ‘ Fedka The Irritant ’.
