Mayotte is a geographically small territory, but frequent exchanges between villages have not started until the last quarter of the twentieth century.

Mayotte is part of the Comoro Islands, and like them is the result of a former hot spot, the oldest of the Comoros archipelago, formed about 7. 7 mya.

While Mayotte is currently an overseas country or territory, it is due to become an overseas region and thus part of the EU on 1 January 2014.

Mayotte forms a part of the Overseas Countries and Territories of the European Union.

There are three subspecies ; the nominate L. d. discolor is found in Madagascar and Mayotte Island, L. d. intermedius on Anjouan, and L. d. gracilis of Grand Comoro.

On the island of Mayotte, one of the Comoro Islands, the title qadi was used for Umar who governed it from 19 November 1835 to 1836 after its conquest by and annexation to the Sultanate of Ndzuwani ( Anjouan ).

This criterion was invoked in the 2007 and 2011 editions with the decision to drop the entries for French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte, and Reunion.

Ndzwani was generally ruled by a single sultan, who occasionally attempted to extend his authority to Mayotte and Mwali ; Ngazidja was more fragmented, on occasion being divided into as may as 12 small kingdoms.

On 25 March 1841, France purchased the island of Maore ( the name of the island was corrupted in French to " Mayotte ") ( ratified 13 June 1843 ), which became a colony.

A fifth French Overseas Department, Mayotte, was created on 31 March 2011 when its status was changed from being an overseas collectivity.

Independence was declared on 6 July 1975 as the Comoros Republic, but this move was resisted in Mayotte

The Games was adopted by the International Olympic Committee ( IOC ) in 1976 and currently gather the islands of Mauritius, Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar, Mayotte, Réunion and the Maldives.

Mayotte thus remains under French administration, and the Comorian Government has effective control over only Grande Comore, Anjouan, and Mohéli.

After the 1992 election, the left had a majority in only 21 of the 100 departments ; after the 2011 election, the left dominated 61 of the 100 departments ( Mayotte only became a department after the election ).

This species inhabits only a small area on the island Mayotte ( Comoros ).

This subspecies only inhabits the island Mayotte in the Comoros.

She also won in 101 of 104 of the Socialist Party's fédérations, losing only Haute-Corse, Mayotte and Seine-Maritime ( the latter being the home region of Laurent Fabius ).

The Maki of Mayotte, a type of lemur which is only found on this island, is protected by French law, and by local tradition.

The flora has only been poorly studied, France has however been made attempts on Mayotte to fill in the gaps.
