After Lennon's death, McCartney once again attempted to change the order to " McCartney – Lennon " for songs such as " Yesterday " that were solely or predominantly written by him, but Ono would not allow it, saying she felt this broke an agreement that the two had made while Lennon was still alive.

The style Dame Heather McCartney could be used for the wife of a knight ; however, this style is largely archaic and is only used in the most formal of documents, or where the wife is a Dame in her own right ( such as Dame Norma Major, who gained her title six years before her husband Sir John Major was knighted ).

After the Beatles 1965 summer tour, Paul McCartney frequently used a left-handed 1964 4001S FG Rickenbacker bass, as its tone was better suited to recording than the lightweight Höfner basses he had used previously.

Others included " Mean Mr. Mustard " and " Polythene Pam " ( both of which would be used for the medley on Abbey Road ); " Child of Nature " ( recorded with drastically different lyrics as " Jealous Guy " for Lennon's Imagine ); " Etcetera " ( a McCartney composition ); " The Long and Winding Road " ( completed in 1969 for the Let It Be LP ); " Something " ( which ended up on Abbey Road ); and " Sour Milk Sea " ( which Harrison gave to friend and Apple artist Jackie Lomax for his first LP, Is This What You Want ).

As Lennon and McCartney were known to do at the time, a substitute working lyric, titled " Scrambled Eggs " ( the working opening verse was " Scrambled Eggs / Oh, my baby how I love your legs "), was used for the song until something more suitable was written.

Take 2 had two lines transposed from the first take: “ There ’ s a shadow hanging over me ”/” I ’ m not half the man I used to be ”, though it seems clear that their order in take 2 was the correct one, because McCartney can be heard, in take 1, suppressing a laugh at his mistake.

In one of those instances, Paul McCartney had re-recorded his failed vocals for " Let It Be " in a studio the day after the concert ( 14 July 1985 ) but it was never used until the release of the DVD.

He remembered being closer to McCartney than to his father: " Paul and I used to hang about quite a bit — more than Dad and I did.

McCartney also used the same quip, this time for an American audience, to introduce The Beatles ' performance of ' I Want to Hold Your Hand ' as the finale of their set for The Ed Sullivan Show at The Deauville Hotel, Miami Beach, Florida on 16 February 1964.

The commercial, titled " Fur and Against ", used music composed by Gary Kemp, and included appearances by Law, Chrissie Hynde, Moby, George Michael, Danny Goffey, Rhys Ifans, Sadie Frost, Helena Christensen, Sir Paul McCartney, Mel C, and Stella McCartney.

In 2008, fashion designer Stella McCartney used a “ 7-meter high, 14-meter wide ” Fuzzy Felt backdrop, created by artists Jake and Dinos Chapman, as a visual accent for the debut of her 2008 spring / summer collection in Paris.

Sometimes the first name is not commonly used at all ( e. g. Paul McCartney whose first name is James ).

The newspaper used the name " Bez " as a generic label for the likes of Chas Smash of Madness, Andrew Ridgely of Wham !, Paul Morley of Art of Noise, Linda McCartney of Wings, and Paul Rutherford of Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

Bush House was used by many celebrities, including Sir Paul McCartney, for his broadcasts to Russia.

The most famous example is the Höfner violin bass used by Paul McCartney.

Although by 1966 McCartney had begun using a Rickenbacker bass in-studio, he did break out his 1961 model for the " Revolution " promo film in 1968 and for the documentary Let It Be the following year.

The pre-The Beatles band The Quarrymen performed the song during 1956 early live performances along with other Presley songs, Paul McCartney later also made another cover of the song in Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road, performing it with Bill Black's bass.

McCartney had played bass on Jackie Lomax's recording of " Sour Milk Sea " a few months earlier.
