The story about Meng Huo's seven captures is recently questioned by many modern academics, including historians like Miao Yue, Tan Liangxiao, and Zhang Hualan.

In Jiangbiao Zhuan ( 江表傳 ), it was said that Lü Meng focused entirely on martial skills until he was admonished by Sun Quan.

Sun Quan had plans to invade Cao Cao's Xu Province instead, but Lü Meng dissuaded him, saying that although it would be easy to take Xu Province, it would be hard to defend Xu Province from being retaken by Cao Cao again.

Lü Meng and his men invaded Jing Province under the disguise of merchant boats and captured the province by forcing its defenders Shi Ren and Mi Fang to surrender.

During the feast, however, Lü Meng was possessed by Guan Yu's spirit and he seized Sun Quan.

Ziying was the only person within the Qin court to defend and try to presuade Qin Er Shi against the wrongful killings of Meng Tian and Meng Yi, brothers who loyally and faithfully served the Qin Empire as a general ( Meng Tian ) and official ( Meng Yi ).
