Mickey Hart ( born Michael Steven Hartman ; September 11, 1943 ) is an American percussionist and musicologist.

Alongside his work with the Grateful Dead, Mickey Hart has flourished as a solo artist, percussionist, and the author of several books.

In 1994, Mickey Hart was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Grateful Dead.

In June and July 2008, Hart led the Mickey Hart Band on a U. S. concert tour.

In April 2010, it was announced that Rhythm Devils will tour in the summer of 2010 with a new lineup including Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann ( assorted percussion ), Keller Williams ( guitar, vocals ), Sikiru Adepoju ( talking drum ), Davy Knowles ( guitar, vocals ), and Andy Hess ( bass ).

In 2011 Hart debuted a new version of the Mickey Hart Band.

In November and December 2011, the Mickey Hart Band did a 17 date tour with a slightly modified lineup.

On October 11, 2011, Smithsonian Folkways released The Mickey Hart Collection.

Mickey Hart was born in Brooklyn and grew up on Long Island attending Lawrence High School before dropping out as a senior and leaving for Europe.

His first foray into television was a documentary for NBC's Omnibus, Dancing is a Man's Game ( 1958 ) where he assembled a group of America's greatest sportsmen – including Mickey Mantle, Sugar Ray Robinson and Bob Cousy – and re-interpreted their moves choreographically, as part of his lifelong quest to remove the effeminate stereotype of the art of dance, while articulating the philosophy behind his dance style.

In the 1996 Furthur Festival, Mickey Hart's Mystery Box played, as did Bob Weir's band Ratdog.

On September 8, 1969, Wilhelm was traded by the Angels with Bob Priddy to the Atlanta Braves for Clint Compton and Mickey Rivers.

Here, he plays the role of the Ghost of Christmas Present and helps show Ebenezer Scrooge ( Scrooge McDuck ) the error of his ways by taking him to the house of his abused and underpaid clerk, Bob Cratchit ( Mickey Mouse ), and showing him that by paying Cratchit so little despite his hard work, Cratchit's son, Tiny Tim, will soon die of his illness.

After the season, when McLain was asked about Lolich's performance in the World Series, he responded controversially by saying: “ I wouldn ’ t trade one Bob Gibson for 12 Mickey Loliches .”

The Other Ones was an American rock band formed in 1998 by former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, and Mickey Hart, along with part-time Grateful Dead collaborator Bruce Hornsby.

Charles Morse ( Anthony Hopkins ), a billionaire with photographic memory, and two other men, Robert " Bob " Green ( Alec Baldwin ), a photographer, and Stephen ( Harold Perrineau ), his assistant, arrive in a remote North America locale via Charles's private jet, along with Charles's much-younger wife, Mickey ( Elle Macpherson ), a beautiful fashion model.

In mid-air, Charles, suspecting Bob and Mickey are having an affair after he sees Bob kiss Mickey on the cheek, cryptically asks how Bob is planning to kill him.

On February 4, 2008, Phil and Friends joined Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir and drummer Mickey Hart, along with Barry Sless and Ratdog guitarist Mark Karan, for a concert called " Deadheads for Obama ", in support of Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

This is alluded to in two sketches ; once when he rants that a position should be created in the UK Government for an ' All Round Good Guy ' which should be awarded to the " Hibs player Mickey Weir ", and also when he reads the news and takes a moment to celebrate a Hibernian victory over their great city rivals, Heart of Midlothian FC.

The group included Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Bob Weir, Bruce Hornsby and Warren Haynes.

The remaining members of The Grateful Dead ; including Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann performed their final set of shows at the Spectrum on May 1 and 2, 2009 ; the May 2 show was their 54th consecutive sell out at the Spectrum.

Artists performing were Bob Weir and Mark Karan as an acoustic duet, the Steve Kimock Band and the Mickey Hart Band.

On October 13, 2008, it played host to Change Rocks: A Concert to Benefit Obama, among guests playing included The Allman Brothers Band and Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, all four of whom were members of The Grateful Dead.
