Selig arranged for major league games to be played at Milwaukee County Stadium.

As early as 1993, Brewers owner Bud Selig had talked of a new ballpark for the Brewers to replace Milwaukee County Stadium, which had become heavily outdated and antiquated and didn't even have luxury suites.

Miller Park was opened in 2001, built to replace Milwaukee County Stadium.

In, in the aftermath of the Seattle Pilots ' purchase and relocation to Milwaukee ( as the Milwaukee Brewers ) by future Commissioner of Baseball Bud Selig, the City of Seattle, King County, and the state of Washington ( represented by then-State Attorney General and later U. S. Senator Slade Gorton ) sued the American League for breach of contract.

It is the county seat of Milwaukee County and is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan.

In 1899, Milwaukee Road railroad expanded into Lake County, providing convenient transportation from the area into the city of Chicago.

Although they now had a modern facility in Green Bay, the Packers continued their tradition ( since 1933 ) of playing two or three regular-season games a year at County Stadium in Milwaukee, 120 miles to the south.

The bratwurst ( or " brat ") also became popular as a mainstay of sports stadiums after Bill Sperling introduced bratwurst to Major League Baseball in Milwaukee County Stadium in 1953.

It was the third MLB stadium to have a retractable roof and the first in the United States ( at the time, only Toronto's SkyDome, now Rogers Centre and Montreal's Olympic Stadium had them ; others are now at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Miller Park in Milwaukee, Safeco Field in Seattle and Marlins Park in Miami ).

Later that year, the Packers would confirm the rumors and announced that their December contest at Milwaukee County Stadium would be their last.

Thomas made his major league debut on August 2, 1990 against the Milwaukee Brewers at County Stadium.

He had also sung the National Anthem at two previous World Series games: the 1982 World Series opener between the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers and Game Three of the 1985 World Series between the Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals, both at Busch Memorial Stadium in St. Louis.

Perhaps his most indelible moment of his season in Detroit came on June 24, when he cleared the right field roof of Tiger Stadium with a shot off Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Tom Tellmann.

Originating in Seattle, Washington, as the Seattle Pilots, the club played for one season in 1969 before being acquired in bankruptcy court by current MLB Commissioner Bud Selig and then moved to Milwaukee.

On August 24 the Brewers completed a sweep of the Colorado Rockies to climb to less than five games out in both the NL Central Division and NL Wild Card races, but then Milwaukee went on a 10-game losing streak that ended any postseason hope.

The Hawks shifted from " Tri-Cities " ( the area now known as the Quad Cities ) to Milwaukee ( in 1951 ) and then to St. Louis, Missouri ( in 1955 ); the Royals from Rochester, New York to Cincinnati ( in 1957 ); and the Pistons from Fort Wayne, Indiana to Detroit ( in 1957 ).

This railway enabled the transport of lumber cut in the Bear Lake sawmill to be moved to Lake Michigan, and then sold to the various markets in Chicago and Milwaukee.

When it was discovered that there already was an existing Lyndon Station elsewhere in Wisconsin, it was decided to rename the village after O. H. Waldo, a prominent Milwaukee attorney and then president of the railroad.

The timber harvested in South Haven was shipped to Chicago and Milwaukee via steamboats and schooners, and the cleared forests were then used by fruit farmers, who primarily grew peaches, blueberries and apples.
