Thunder are an English hard rock band, who originally formed in 1989 when the band Terraplane broke up, leaving lead singer Danny Bowes and guitarist / main songwriter Luke Morley to form a new group, namely Thunder.

Luke Morley and Danny Bowes first met at Haberdashers ' Aske's Hatcham College in 1975.

Meantime, rumours of an approach by Whitesnake singer David Coverdale to recruit Luke Morley were circulating ( Although in 2002 Danny Bowes stated that " the whole thing was made up " by the band to engineer some press interest ).

Luke Morley returned to the scene the following year with the solo album El Gringo Retro and played a brace of live shows at the Borderline in London, backed by virtually all of his former bandmates ( Danny Bowes being the exception ).

The previous incarnations of Bowes / Morley bands that slowly formed into Thunder under different name changes however, did not.

Singer Danny Bowes, guitarist Luke Morley and drummer Harry James, were joined by bassist Nick Linden and second guitarist Rudi Rivière.

Morley, Bowes and James would regroup in 1989 to form Thunder ; all three remained in that band until 2009.

Danny has also recorded with his Thunder colleague Luke Morley ( in Bowes and Morley ), will be performing with another bandmate Ben Matthews ( as " Danny & Ben ") for several concerts in early 2012 and has contributed vocals to an album by Dean Howard who was previously with T ' Pau.

Popular with rock fans as much for his cheerful persona as for his powerhouse drumming, he was previously a member of 1980s group Terraplane, who also featured future Thunder members Luke Morley and Danny Bowes.

The TV series X-Files ( 1993 – 2002 ) frequently featured the fictional Morley brand of cigarettes, the choice of the Cigarette Smoking Man.

The members of the opposing teams for this game were chosen by the President of the FA ( A. Pember ) and the Secretary ( E. C. Morley ) and included many well-known footballers of the day.

Michelson and Morley and other early experimentalists using interferometric techniques in an attempt to measure the properties of the luminiferous aether, used monochromatic light only for initially setting up their equipment, always switching to white light for the actual measurements.

Morley may be considered the father of football for his key role in establishing modern Association Football.

Major international contests for women include the yearly Miss World competition ( founded by Eric Morley in 1951 ), Miss Universe ( founded in 1952 ), Miss International ( founded in 1960 ) and Miss Earth ( founded in 2001 with environmental awareness as its concern ).

Between the release of Say What You Will and their second album, Grant Young joined the group, taking over the drums from Morley.

Banbury went on to record an album with Paul Morley under the name Infantjoy, and entitled Where the Night Goes.

Morley has teamed up with The Auteurs ' James Banbury to form the band Infantjoy and in 2005 released an album entitled Where The Night Goes on Sony BMG.

An album, With, featuring collaborations with Tunng, Isan and Populous amongst others, was released in October 2006 on Morley and Banbury's own label ServiceAV.

Morley also created much of the artwork on the band's album covers.

For personal reasons Mikael Höglund was unable to participate in the recording of the band's fourth album The Thrill Of It All ; Luke Morley handled bass duties and the album was released on the independent B Lucky record label.

In 2009, Luke Morley teamed up with Peter Shoulder to form The Union ( band ), who released their first album in 2010 and second in 2011.

He replaced Pat Morley shortly after the release of Soul Asylum's debut album, Say What You Will, Clarence ... Karl Sold the Truck in 1984.

However, by the time of recording the 2001 album Elaborations of Carbon, YOB was composed of Scheidt, bassist Isamu Sato ( previously with death metal act Thrombus ) and ex-Lightweight drummer Gabe Morley.
