The first thoroughfares of North America, except for the time-obliterated paths of mastodon or muskox and the routes of the Mound Builders, were the traces made by bison and deer in seasonal migration and between feeding grounds and salt licks.

The Nachenum Lodge # 145 of the Order of the Arrow served Mound Builders Area Council, forming in 1939.

An interesting note is that Mound Builders Area Council, while no longer an actual council, was represented at the 1985 National Jamboree.

The troop contingent from Mound Builders Council attended the jamboree, held beginning July 15, while the council itself ceased to exist on July 1.

It was in use for many years during the camp's time as a part of Mound Builders Area Council and Dan Beard Council.

Archaeologists called these people the Mississippians of the Mississippian culture ; they were Mound Builders.

Geoffrey of Monmouth wrote about the town, claiming that it had been fortified by Ambrosius Aurelianus, king of the Britons after his victory over the Saxon forces of Hengist ( Historia Regum Britanniae viii, 7 ), that the captive Saxon leader Hengist was hacked to pieces by Eldol outside the town walls, and was buried at " Hengist's Mound " in the town.

The sisters spent summers in Mound with their uncles Pete and Ed Solie, who had a grocery store there.
