In January 1893, prospectors Patrick ( Paddy ) Hannan, Tom Flanagan, and Dan O ' Shea were travelling to Mount Youle when one of their horses cast a shoe.

The Marne River () is the major tributary from the eastern Mount Lofty Ranges into the Murray River in South Australia.

It originates near Mount Aragats in Aragatsotn province, flows south into Armavir province and into the Metsamor River, which itself is a tributary of the Aras River.

The southern face of Mount Kearsarge drains into Meadow Brook, a tributary of the Warner River, which flows southeast to the Contoocook River.

It is bounded on the west by the Bicol River and beyond the municipality of Cabusao ; on the south by the municipality of Bombon and Naga City ; on the east by the vast forest lands of Mount Isarog, the Tigman River and each tributary forming the natural boundary and beyond the municipality of Tinambac ; on the north by the vast fishing grounds of San Miguel Bay, and beyond, the municipalities of Sipocot, Basud and Mercedes.

Deception Creek, a tributary of the Dosewallips River, drains the southern slope of Mount Deception.

Upstream of Mount Vernon, the Kokosing collects its largest tributary, the North Branch Kokosing River, which rises in Morrow County and flows southeastwardly through Knox County, past Fredericktown.
