* King Richard II of England exiles his cousin Henry Bolingbroke ( the future Henry IV of England ) for 10 years in order to end Henry's feud with Thomas de Mowbray, 1st Duke of Norfolk, who is also exiled.

Bolingbroke also accuses Mowbray of the recent murder of the Duke of Gloucester, although John of Gaunt — Gloucester's brother and Bolingbroke's father — believes that Richard himself was responsible for the murder.

After his death, his second son held the land until his death in the Mowbray conspiracy of 1098, after which it passed to his eldest son, Robert de Bellesme, who also rebelled against the Crown in 1102 with the result that the lands were confiscated.

On 10 February 1382, he succeeded his brother John as 6th Baron Mowbray and 7th Baron Segrave, and was soon created 1st Earl of Nottingham, a title that was also created for his elder brother.

In 1971, the league had numerous peers and notables as high-profile members, including Viscount Massereene and Ferrard, Baron Mowbray and Stourton, and John Biggs-Davison, MP, who was also on the league's ' Council of Honour '.

Some thirty of Lancaster's followers were also executed, among these Clifford and the baron John Mowbray.

* 1877 After 80 years, the Melton Mowbray ( or Wreake ) Navigation also closed, leaving Melton Mowbray with no waterway outlet to the main canal system.

Didcot also has a nature reserve, Mowbray Fields, where wildlife including a species of common spotted and southern marsh orchids can be found.

There is also evidence to suggest that the site of Melton Mowbray in the Wreake Valley was inhabited before Roman occupation ( 43A. D ).

There is also a picture labelled " A Spree at Melton Mowbray.

There is also the Melton Mowbray Tally Ho Band, formed in 1936, and Tornado Brass, a mixed brass and woodwind group, was founded in the 1980s.

The successful application to protect the Cornish pasty is another recent example ; with Ginsters of Cornwall central to the bid ( itself owned by the ‘ extra-local ’, Leicestershire-based Samworth Brothers – also makers of fellow PGS protected Melton Mowbray Pork Pies ).

William Behnes also designed the statue of Havelock at the top of Building Hill in Mowbray Park Sunderland.

The two baronies were also briefly separated in the nineteenth century, when both titles were in abeyance, and the barony of Segrave was called out of abeyance about two weeks after the barony of Mowbray.

* Henry Frederick Howard, 22nd Earl of Arundel, 5th Earl of Surrey ( 1608 – 1652 ), also created Baron Mowbray 1640, in his father's lifetime.

He produced many busts of children, reliefs and also some notable church monuments and statues, including ones of Dr William Babington in St Paul's Cathedral and Major-General Sir Henry Havelock ( believed to be the first statue based on a photograph, two casts were made-one is today situated in Trafalgar Square, London, the other in Mowbray Park, Sunderland ) and several of Sir Robert Peel ( including ones situated in Leeds, Peel Park in Bradford, and at the police college in Hendon in north-west London ).

He was appointed Earl Marshal of England and recovered his titles of Baron Mowbray and Segrave upon his coming of age in 1413, which also the year that Henry V succeeded to the throne, keen to reconcile with former opponents of the House of Lancaster.

There are also the Number 24 and 26 buses which run to Melton Mowbray at least every two hours, and other services to Grantham and Bingham.

Valonges, nearby, and Roger de Mowbray, whose family came from Aubigny, also nearby.

Mowbray also start giving Marvin Emnes more playing after returning on loan from Swansea City and start scoring goals.

Mowbray also brought in Josh McEachran and Ishmael Miller in on season long loans from Chelsea and Nottingham Forest respectively.

The club is based at Grace Road, Leicester and have also played home games at Aylestone Road in Leicester, at Hinckley, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Ashby-de-la-Zouch and in Coalville inside the traditional county boundaries ; and at Uppingham and Oakham over the border in Rutland.

The official story is that in the 14th century, Lady de Mowbray, wife of an Isle landowner, John De Mowbray, was out riding towards Westwoodside on the hill that separates it from Haxey.

The baronies of Mowbray and Segrave were shortly separated, as the barony of Segrave was called out of abeyance about two weeks after the barony of Mowbray.

* John Howard, 1st Duke of Norfolk, 12th Baron Mowbray ( 1420 – 1485 ), called out of abeyance c. 1484, forfeit 1485

In 1878, the ancient barony of Mowbray was called out of abeyance in favour of the twentieth Baron Stourton.

The peerages created for him died out with his grandson the 9th Duke in 1777, though the current Baron Mowbray descends from the 9th Duke.

As a result, during the close season, Mowbray set about restructuring his squad, moving out several of Robson's players for multi-million pound fees, after press reports of dressing room division.

Despite the large changes in his squad, Mowbray won the Championship Manager of the Month award in September 2007, after Albion gained 13 out of the maximum 15 points and climbed to 2nd in the Division.

He missed out on the award to Middlesbrough's Tony Mowbray.

Although supermarkets routinely carry pork pies with the label " Melton Mowbray ", there is in fact a specific " hand-raising " process and recipe which marks a pie as a Melton Mowbray pork pie.

Of course this sort of thing may have been common in Melton Mowbray at this time and there is no evidence that the picture depicts the same events.

He died there in 1646, having returned to Roman Catholicism he nominally abandoned on joining the Privy Council, and was succeeded as Earl by his eldest son Henry Howard, 22nd Earl of Arundel who was the ancestor of the Dukes of Norfolk and Baron Mowbray.

In 1405 there was a revolt in the north of England, led by the Archbishop of York, Richard le Scrope, and the Earl of Norfolk, Thomas de Mowbray.

The castle was re-taken and Mowbray was dragged from there and imprisoned for life for treason.

In Victorian times it was a popular attraction: there are grottos, surprise views, waterfalls, a fountain and several follies, including Mowbray Castle, a ruin in a prominent hill-top position.

He was educated at Melton Mowbray Grammar School and studied medicine at St Bartholomew's Medical College and later at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.

While marching north again, Malcolm was ambushed by Robert de Mowbray, Earl of Northumbria, whose lands he had devastated, near Alnwick on 13 November 1093.

At the Battle of Alnwick, on 13 November 1093, Malcolm was ambushed by Norman forces led by Robert de Mowbray.

The castle, however, was under a constant state of siege, and the English commander, Sir Phillip de Mowbray, had advised Edward that he would surrender the castle to the Scots unless Edward arrived by 24 June 1314, to relieve the siege.

In 1398, a remark by Bolingbroke regarding Richard II's rule was interpreted as treason by Thomas de Mowbray, 1st Duke of Norfolk.

Mowbray himself was exiled for life.

The one marriage which may be considered shocking was that of her 20-year-old brother John Woodville to Katherine, Duchess of Norfolk, daughter of Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland by Joan Beaufort, and widow of John Mowbray, 2nd Duke of Norfolk.

Around Lent of 1314, Edward Bruce, brother of the Scottish King, began the siege of Stirling Castle, which was commanded by Sir Philip Mowbray.

The manor of Kensington, Middlesex, was granted by William I of England to Geoffrey de Montbray or Mowbray, bishop of Coutances, one of his inner circle of advisors and one of the wealthiest men in post-Conquest England.

The bishop's heir, Robert de Mowbray, rebelled against William Rufus and his vast barony was declared forfeit.

Mowbray died in exile in 1399, some months after his grandmother, and his dukedom was repealed.

She was born at Framlingham Castle in Suffolk, the only ( surviving ) child of John de Mowbray, 4th Duke of Norfolk and Elizabeth de Mowbray, Duchess of Norfolk.

He was created Duke of Norfolk and given his half of the Mowbray estates after Richard's coronation.

Bleek died in Mowbray on 17 August 1875, aged 48, and was buried in Wynberg Anglican cemetery in Cape Town along with his two infant children, who had died before him.

John Howard was the son of Sir Robert Howard ( 1385 – 1436 ) and the former Lady Margaret de Mowbray ( 1388 – 1459 ), eldest daughter of Thomas de Mowbray, 1st Duke of Norfolk ( of the first creation ) ( 1366 – 1399 ) and Lady Elizabeth FitzAlan ( 1366 – 1425 ).

The land that was to become Bay Shore proper was purchased from the Secatogue Indians in 1708 by John Mowbray, a teacher, for " several eel spears ".

During the 15th and 16th centuries Framlingham was at the heart of the estates of the powerful Mowbray and Howard families.

Three months later, three of the six and eighteen others became the guild's first officers and board of directors: Ralph Morgan ( its first president ), Alden Gay, Kenneth Thomson, Alan Mowbray ( who personally funded the organization when it was first founded ), Leon Ames, Tyler Brooke, Clay Clement, James Gleason, Lucile Webster Gleason, Boris Karloff ( reportedly influenced by long hours suffered during the filming of Frankenstein ), Claude King, Noel Madison, Reginald Mason, Bradley Page, Willard Robertson, Ivan Simpson, C. Aubrey Smith, Charles Starrett, Richard Tucker, Arthur Vinton, Morgan Wallace and Lyle Talbot.
