MyTravel Group PLC was a package holiday company based in the United Kingdom.

The company included an in-house airline, MyTravel Airways, however, following the merger of MyTravel and Thomas Cook AG on 19 June 2007, these brands passed to the new combined Thomas Cook Group plc.

MyTravel Group PLC had an estimated market capitalization of over £ 1. 43 Billion GBP.

In 2002, Airtours Group plc, re branded under the new company wide banner of MyTravel Group plc.

In November 2003, MyTravel sold off its North America Cruise Division to NLG ( National Leisure Group ) of Woburn, MA.

On 12 February 2007, MyTravel Group plc announced that they had agreed terms on a merger with Thomas Cook AG.

Sterling Airlines traces its history back to 1962, when Eilif Krogager, founder of Danish travel agency Tjæreborg ( today part of MyTravel Group ), started the charter airline Sterling Airways with two Douglas DC-6B bought from Swissair, in order to better service his own package tours from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean.

Later in the 90s, MyTravel Group began charter flights from the airport, using the Airtours brand and new low-cost scheduled flights from Debonair and EasyJet, the latter making Luton its base.

In 2007 Thomas Cook announced a merger with competitor MyTravel, with the new group to be called Thomas Cook Group plc and listed on the London Stock Exchange.

It operated worldwide holiday charter services mainly for its parent company, the MyTravel Group.

During 2007 the MyTravel Group agreed to merge with Thomas Cook AG, and on 30 March 2008, MyTravel Airways was fully integrated into Thomas Cook Airlines.

Following the renaming of the Airtours Group to the MyTravel Group in February 2002, the Airtours International and Premiair operations were rebranded as MyTravel Airways with effect from 1 May 2002.

Due to necessary consolidation within the UK IT market, MyTravel Group PLC and Thomas Cook AG agreed to merge in March 2007 to form Thomas Cook Group PLC.

Thomas Cook AG was the parent company of Thomas Cook, Condor Airlines and other such subsidiaries until 12 February 2007 when Thomas Cook AG announced that it had merged with MyTravel Group PLC.

In October 2002 MyTravel Airways launched its scheduled low-fare airline, MyTravelLite, but this was reintegrated in 2003.

After the sale of Direct Holidays in 1998 to MyTravel Group for £ 84m ( C $ 200 million ), Hugh relocated to Canada.

The aircraft ( both formerly with MyTravel Airways ) operated summer charters from Toronto to the UK and Europe for Sunquest Vacations, and in the winter flew from Vancouver to the Caribbean and Mexico.

The group included brands such as Airtours, Aspro, Cresta, Direct Holidays, Escapades, Manos and Panorama in the UK ,* Sunquest Vacations and * ALBA Tours in North America, and Ving, Always, Tjæreborg, Spies, Skibby, MyTravel Tango, Bridge and Saga Solreiser in Scandinavia.

This included a name change for Airtours International and Premiair to MyTravel Airways.

Shops throughout Northern Europe were rebranded to MyTravel however UK retail outlets remained under the banner of Going Places due to the immense brand awareness and popularity-a brand that continually wins the accolade of ‘ UK ’ s Favourite Travel Agent ’ as voted for by Daily Mail readers.

In 2004 and 2005, MyTravel took 5. 7 million people on holiday of which 3. 4 million were from the UK, 1. 5 million from Northern Europe and 0. 8 million from North America.

These are today part of MyTravel.

Another seven hotels / residences have been built not far from the two Disney theme parks on land held under Euro Disney SCA's lease, including properties from companies such as Holiday Inn, Kyriad, MyTravel and Radisson Hotels.
