Building on the writings and observations of Jung, during World War II, Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother, Katharine C. Briggs, delineated personality types by constructing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.

This model was later used by David Keirsey with a different understanding from Jung, Briggs and Myers.

Briggs and Myers also added another personality dimension to their type indicator to measure whether a person prefers to use a judging or perceiving function when interacting with the external world.

The original developers of the personality inventory were Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers.

From Jung's original concepts, Briggs and Myers developed their own theory of psychological type, described below, on which the MBTI is based.

None of these types are better or worse ; however, Briggs and Myers theorized that individuals naturally prefer one overall combination of type differences.

The editors of the movement — such as Werner Nold, Charlotte Zwerin, Muffie Myers, Susan Froemke, and Ellen Hovde — are often overlooked, but their input to the films was so vital that they were often given co-director credits.
