Some of these perform bootstrapping tasks, such as ExtUtils :: MakeMaker, which is used for building and installing other extension modules ; others, like CGI. pm, are merely commonly used.

Some of them, such as the DBI family of modules used for interfacing with SQL databases, are nearly irreplaceable in their area of function ; others, such as the List :: Util module, are simply handy resources containing a few common functions.

CPAN module distributions usually have names in the form of CGI-Application-3. 1 ( where the :: used in the module's name has been replaced with a dash, and the version number has been appended to the name ), but this is only a convention ; many prominent distributions break the convention, especially those that contain multiple modules.

The Acme :: hierarchy is reserved for joke modules ; for instance, Acme :: Don't adds a function that doesn't run the code given to it ( to complement the built-in, which does ).

Even outside the Acme :: hierarchy, some modules are still written largely for amusement ; one example is Lingua :: Romana :: Perligata, which can be used to write Perl programs in a subset of Latin.

His lectures on modern art ( now known as the Paul Klee Notebooks ) at the Bauhaus have been compared for importance to Leonardo's Treatise on Painting and Newton's Principia Mathematica, constituting the Principia Aesthetica of a new era of art ;

Painting is also used to express spiritual motifs and ideas ; sites of this kind of painting range from artwork depicting mythological figures on pottery to The Sistine Chapel to the human body itself.

Painting in the traditional style involved essentially the same techniques as calligraphy and was done with a brush dipped in black or colored ink ; oils were not used.

Klee was a natural draftsman who experimented with and eventually mastered colour theory, and wrote extensively about it ; his lectures Writings on Form and Design Theory ( Schriften zur Form und Gestaltungslehre ), published in English as the Paul Klee Notebooks, are considered so important for modern art that they are compared to the importance that Leonardo da Vinci's A Treatise on Painting had for Renaissance.

To date several galleries have been redesigned, notably, in 2002: the main Silver Gallery, Contemporary ; in 2003: Photography, the main entrance, The Painting Galleries ; in 2004: the tunnel to the subway leading to South Kensington tube station, New signage throughout the museum, architecture, V & A and RIBA reading rooms and stores, metalware, Members ' Room, contemporary glass, the Gilbert Bayes sculpture gallery ; in 2005: portrait miniatures, prints and drawings, displays in Room 117, the garden, sacred silver and stained glass ; in 2006: Central Hall Shop, Islamic Middle East, the new café, sculpture galleries.

A bit earlier, on the West-coast, Roy Lichtenstein, Jim Dine and Andy Warhol from NYC, Phillip Hefferton and Robert Dowd from Detroit ; Edward Ruscha and Joe Goode from Oklahoma City, and Wayne Thiebaud from California were included in the New Painting of Common Objects show.
