" The Programme offers a broad range of research foci and specializations including, though not limited to, Environmental Security and Peace, Gender and Peace Building, International Law and Human Rights, International Law and the Settlement of Disputes, International Peace Studies, Media, Peace and Conflict Studies, Natural Resources and Peace, Peace Education, Responsible Management and Sustainable Development, and Sustainable Urban Governance and Peace.

In addition the CNU has formed partnerships on specific projects such as working with the States Green Building Council and the Natural Resources Defense Council to develop the LEED for Neighborhood Development standards, and with the Institute of Transportation Engineers to develop a Context Sensitive Solutions ( CSS ) Design manual.

A forthcoming rating system for neighborhood environmental design, LEED-ND, being developed by the U. S. Green Building Council, Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Congress for the New Urbanism, should help to quantify the sustainability of New Urbanist neighborhood design.

The first two buildings constructed at the new site were the Arts Building ( now University College ) and the Natural Science Building ( now the Physics and Astronomy Building ).

Included among the options are: FIT ( Freshman in Transition, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources ), athletic training, career exploration ( College of Arts and Sciences ), computer science house, engineering houses, health and sciences house, HES house ( College of Human and Environmental Sciences ), journalism and broadcasting house, Kamm Leadership House, Ketchum House ( Native American interests ), James Building ( Young Engineers House ), Maude's Quad ( Women in Engineering House ), Recovery House ( students recovering from drug and / or alcohol dependence ), Spanish House ( language immersion ), Spears School of Business House, Stout Honors housing ( University's Honors Program ), Uhuru House ( African Centered Cultural House ), Wellness House, and The Transfer Zone ( transfer students ).

In 2008 the university was able to prevail in the nationwide " Initiative of Excellence " of Germany and it was granted the graduate school " BuildMoNa: Leipzig School of Natural Sciences – Building with Molecules and Nano-objects ".

The period from 1960 to 1970 saw a revived era of construction and expansion with the construction of the Zoo ’ s first Children ’ s Zoo, the Small Mammal House ( now the Natural Encounters Building ), and the Tropical Bird House.

The Wildlife Carousel opened near the Children ’ s zoo in 2004 and in 2005 the Zoo opened the Natural Encounters Building, representing a new approach to zoo exhibitry with interactive keeper chats and presentations every half-hour.

* The Ethel G. and Allen H. Carruth Natural Encounters Building, opened in 2005, contains multi-species exhibits representing seven different ecosystems, including the River's Edge, Rainforest Canopy, Dry Lands, the Coral Reef, a bat cave, mole rat tunnels, and a meerkat habitat.

Georgia State continued this growth into the 1990s, with the expansion of Alumni Hall in 1991, the opening of the Natural Science Center in 1992, and the acquisition of the former C & S Bank Building on Marietta Street in 1993, which is now the home of the Robinson College of Business.

The Natural History Building ( as the National Museum of Natural History was originally known ) opened its doors to the public on March 17, 1910, in order to provide the Smithsonian Institution with more space for collections and research.

His memory has been honored by Puerto Rico by naming public buildings and schools after him, including the Antonio R. Barceló Legislative Building which previously housed the School of Tropical Medicine and the Department of Natural Resources.

Along with his teaching load, Koenig filled a variety of administrative roles during his many years at USC including serving as Assistant Director of the Institute of Building Research, and Director and Founder of both the Natural Forces Laboratory and the undergraduate Building Science Program.
