In 1961, while a Recreation Leader and then Recreation Supervisor for the City of Newport Beach, CA he formulated and then began organizing Frisbee golf tournaments at nine of the City's playgrounds he supervised.

New London is located about from Boston, Massachusetts, from Providence, Rhode Island, from Newport, Rhode Island, from New Bedford, Massachusetts, and about from New York City.

The area includes the Virginia cities of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Williamsburg, and the counties of Gloucester, Isle of Wight, James City, Mathews, Surry, and York, as well as the North Carolina county of Currituck.
