On October 21, 2009 it was announced that cable channel Nickelodeon ( a subsidiary of Viacom ) had purchased all of Mirage's rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles property.

Nickelodeon announced in February 2009 that Noggin and The N were to be rebranded as Nick Jr. and TeenNick to bring both channels in line with the Nickelodeon brand identity.

Nickelodeon later announced in May 2009 that Nick Magazine would be discontinued by the end of the year.

The channel also announced the additions of an English-language version of the Belgian / Dutch live-action Nickelodeon series Het Huis Anubis called House of Anubis, a Kung Fu Panda animated series, and the preschool series Bubble Guppies for the Nick Play Date block.

In July 2009, Nickelodeon, in response to a hard-hit magazine industry, announced it would shut Nick Magazine down after 16 years ; the final issue was published in December 2009.

Mark Mulcahy, Spot " Scott " Boutier, and Dave McCaffrey performed music for the Nickelodeon television show The Adventures of Pete & Pete under the name Polaris because fourth Miracle Legion member Mr. Ray Neal was not available at the time ; occasional guests included Joyce Raskin, Dennis Kelly, and Buell Thomas.

Another type of crossover occurred in a 2010 episode of the Nickelodeon sitcom iCarly ; the episode " iStart a Fan War " featured recurring characters from two Nickelodeon series: Drake & Josh characters Eric Blonowitz, Craig Ramirez and Gavin Mitchell ( played by Scott Halberstadt, Alec Medlock and series staff writer Jake Farrow, respectively ) and Zoey 101 character Stacey Dillsen ( played by Abby Wilde ); this was possible because all three series were created by the same producer, Dan Schneider ( although Drake & Josh and Zoey 101 both ended their runs within a year of iCarly < nowiki >'</ nowiki > s 2007 debut ); this episode however retcons the episode " iGet Pranky " ( both episodes aired during the show's fourth season ) that establishes that Drake & Josh exists as a television series in the iCarly universe.

In 1996, the Orlando Business Journal reported that Nickelodeon was considering renewing Legends for a fourth season, but according to Scott Fishman, Vice-President of Production Services at Nickelodeon, renewal was " not sure bet

After SpongeBobs fourth season, Sherm left Nickelodeon to write and illustrate his first book for Walter Foster Publications, " Cartooning: Character Design ".

Nickelodeon originally aired a handful of episodes in edited half-hour form during 1981 as a test run, since producer Roger Price and director Geoffrey Darby had edited the entire 1981 season of You Can't Do That on Television episodes into a half-hour format similar to Whatever Turns You On for national and international syndication.

Following Crossroads Nickelodeon cast Spears as a regular performer in the eighth season of the sketch comedy series All That.

In 2007, Nickelodeon began a four-year development deal with Sony Music to produce music-themed series for the channel, help fund and launch albums in conjunction with the label tied to Nickelodeon shows and produce original songs for the programs to be released as singles as result ; the only series produced under the partnership that was greenlit as a series, Victorious debuted in 2010, though a similar hit music-themed sitcom, Big Time Rush that debuted the same year features a similar partnership with Columbia Records, though with Columbia only being involved with the show's music, Sony Music became involved with that show's production midway through its first season.

On May 12, 2010, after an agreement was reached with Haim Saban ( who earlier that month had bought back rights to the Power Rangers franchise from The Walt Disney Company ), Nickelodeon agreed to air an eighteenth season of the series, and the production resumed in late 2010 for.

Winx Club is an animated series that was created in Italy, but Nickelodeon is recreating its old seasons and creating a 5th and 6th season.

The eighteenth season, Samurai, began airing on Nickelodeon on February 7, 2011, with the previous episodes beginning rebroadcast on Nicktoons later that year.

The only references to a Viacom property were the characters and titles used in Nickelodeon Universe ( Kings Island ) and Nickelodeon Central ( Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Great America, and Canada's Wonderland ), all of which were rethemed to the children's area utilized by Cedar Fair's own legacy parks, Peanuts for the 2010 season.

In between stints as host of High Rollers, Trebek hosted the short-lived CBS game show, Double Dare ( not to be confused with the 1986 Nickelodeon game show of the same name ), which turned out to be both the only CBS network show Trebek hosted and the first show he hosted for what was then Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions, as well as the second season of the syndicated series The $ 128, 000 Question, which taped in Toronto.

The cats from GEAR would eventually become the Nickelodeon series Catscratch.

The network is also known for being a channel for burning off animated series that failed on Nickelodeon, along with fulfilling contractual obligations involving programming from Nickelodeon's foreign networks that would likely attract low ratings on the main Nickelodeon network.
